that's the beauty of the longer gears. Less shifting. More acceleration.

I'm not sure why you linked that quasi film noir. Just promoting your buddy's film school project or what? As most people here have mentioned, the auto and manual both have 2 shifts between 60 and 130, so yeah, the auto is gonna be faster. I don't see how that video confirmed anything except that I'm a sucker who will waste 4 and a half minutes of my life watching a ridiculous video as long as it has a Z06 in it. Sorry, not trying to be a hater, just a little thunderstruck that I watched that whole thing. I finished and thought "... what just happened??"

I appreciate the comments, but it's just me and wife shooting these little videos in our spare time on the weekends. I know my acting is a bit stiff, I spent my entire career behind the camera, not in front of it so I'll try and improve on that aspect as I continue.
In regards to the topic, I figure since I owned both cars, I can make an objective statement with a common performance metric.

I linked it because (1) it's relevant to the topic and (2) I figure I try and reboot my YouTube channel after I recently retired and no better place to start then sharing on car forums that I'm always on.

A8 is faster from any speed. It's the gearing. The M7 is at a disadvantage. Proven nunerous times in real world and on here. I've run a bolton M7 with very good driver from 70ish and my A8 pulls the car with just an AFE. Modern autos are amazing. Even slushboxes.
When my car shifts it doesnt miss a beat. When his car shifts he loses a fender plus each time. And that's being PERFECT every time. Good luck with that.
if the M7 had tighter ratios maybe it's a moot point? It doesn't....so it isn't...
and for anyone claiming the M7 has more wheel hp/tq? True. But torque multiplication and shift extension negates that handily. That's why the fastest cars in the world are automatics (now and have been for a long time).

if I wanted a 1/4 mile car I would have gotten a fast auto, not a c7z but more like a gtr.
but I like street fun, highway pulls, off ramp pulls and nothing beats the long gears of the m7. And if I ever wanted to get on a course, m7 also better.
the a8 cant handle the course as well. Downshifts are slow and then the car will eventually overheat lol
