MP AS3+ ZP versus MP SS ZP

MP AS3+ ZP versus MP SS ZP
How warm does the temperature need to be and/or how warm do the tires need to be for the MP SS to have more straight line (acceleration) grip than the MP AS3+? Similarlly, how long does it take with normal street / highway driving for the tires to warm up enough for the MP SS to end up with more straight line grip? Since I tend to do mostly shorter trips, I'm wondering if most of the time I'm in the car the AS3+ will have the same or better grip than the MP SS. I live in southern Califronia, where the temperature only gets down to low 50's or high 40's in the winter at night time. Even in the summer, the temperature often gets down to the mid 60's later on at night.

Some (or at least someone) posted that the MPSS only retain their grip for about a year, regardless of mileage (an oxidation issue)? I may try the MP AS3+ ZP one time to see how it goes if I don't get any responses from others that have tried the MP AS3+ ZP.

There is no way that these tyres lose their ‘grip’ in a year unless one: you track them and heat cycle them out, although the tread would be gone by then anyway, and two: you wear them out with lots of miles. They are a great tyre.

The OEM MPSS are regarded by most, (not all), as the best DD tyre for the car, especially in warmer climates like yours. As a ZP RFT tyre it does ride with less compliance than other options that are non-RFT tyres, but you’ll lose performance if you switch out the Michelin’s.

I bought my used 2015 C7 Z06 3LZ M7 (without Z07) a few months ago. It still has the MP SS tires from the original owner that are about 1 1/2 years old based on the date codes. Maybe the car was tracked or a least the tires heat cycled too many times. As temps go down from 70 to 65, 60, 55, ..., (60 to 65 is common at night time, even during summer), the grip goes down. There is significant grip loss if the tires are spinning versus hooked up. I'm wondering if the MP SS are less "forgiving" than other track oriented tires (the all or nothing grip issue that some tires have). I plan on buying a new set of tires early next year, and haven't decided on MP SS or MP AS3+. Waiting for more feedback.

Having driven extensively on both, the AS3 will be advantageous in anything less than 70 degrees. The SS might fare better in the 60's if you really have the tire warmed up for a launch. The AS3 is truly fantastic. I was coasting around an off-ramp and pulling .95G's in 41 deg a few days ago. The SS's are scary in the same temps and forget about accelerating.

I have less than 2 hundred miles on my AS3s love the ride and the cold weather handling, stock tires were scary doing lane changes in cool weather also my original stock tires were hard as rocks coming up on three years 13000 miles. I still had a few more 32 seconds left but discover front tires were to cord on inner treads.

Do the MP AS3 ZP pick up little rocks and throw them at the car like the MPSS tires do?
I had my 2016 Z06 on the track at the Autobahn country club when the track was wet. I was running the stock MPSS tires that had a few track days on them. The tires were not working well on the wet track. Will the AS3 be a good choice for wet track days?

For track use:
Your best bet is a tire like Hoosier H20. These tires can pull up to 1G on even wet surfaces.
Other than that, R888R, NT01, and similar tires that work well without having to be warmed up, could do well, too, especially at full tread depth.
