So after deciding between modding versus leaving stock, the mod bug won, like always. I decided to do something simple, as my car is just a daily driver and street car. I decided to go with a filter, upper pulley, and tune. I already had a Borla x pipe on the car also. So I figure the car was making 570-580 or so. It’s an M7 car.
Took my my car to East Coast Suoercharging and had them do the 2.3 upper pulley and a 93 tune, and got some really nice results I wanted to share. 616 hp and 663 torque. I was very happy with those numbers, especially the torque.
A week later I got a good deal on some cat delete pipes, so I installed them and took it back for a quick retune and picked up another 6 hp and about 13 torque.
So I ended up with 622 horsepower and 677 torque. The difference is night and day. For a while, this is gonna be it for me as I don’t want to start getting into adding meth and cooling mods quite yet, I just want to keep it simple.
So for those of you interested in what just a few bolt ons can do, maybe this will help your decision. It’s also interesting to see the before and after of the cat delete pipes. I actually thought I would get a little more power out of them.
6hp for deleting the cats? That's within 1% error...
Any before numbers?
we did not do a before pull. It was stock other than a Borla x pipe. So most likely in the 560 range. But yes 6 hp and about 13 tq from the cat deletes. We can’t say this is an accurate number for cat delete pipes however because it was already tuned with some bolt ons when they were added, so there’s a lot of other variables other than just the cat delete pipes and horsepower gains associated with them. I honestly didn’t expect to pick up much from them at all, I dod it because I was a tad bit worried about the stock cats later down the line and just wanted to eliminate them to take that worry out of my head.
