Will a ZR1 (LT5) Clutch work in a Z06 (LT4)
I have a Callaway with 20K miles and fell like my clutch is starting to get weak. It's not necessarily slipping but does release very close to the top of pedal and is starting to fell like its going. I may be wrong and hope I am. If the ZR1 clutch will work does anyone know the part number?
I track my car often and do regular "Ranger Clutch Bleeds". I'm driving to and tracking at Daytona on the 28th and would hate to waste the day with a broken car.
Any input is appreciated.
Thanks
Frank

I’m sure it will but why would you? If you’re going to go through a clutch install there are so many better options for probably less money.
A mantic twin would be my choice. That puppy held a lot of power for me.

Not really interested in a triple disc, the Mantic twin is interesting, I like to do rally's in addition to my track days and autocross. On rally's I may be driving for as long as 8-10 hours so don't want a clutch that is going to kill my leg LOL. I see on Mantic's web site that the pedal pressure will increase 10-15% so I think I could live with this. my car is not a daily driver but I drive it a lot on weekends. This was my thought process with the ZR1 clutch.
Any input is more then welcomed.

Looks like the Mantic M921207 is like $725.00 more then the McLeod 6406807HD. They appear to be the same clutch and both brands are very reputable, any input? I don't want to have to put a clutch in twice LOL

A few friends of mine have had the McLeod. Some loved it and some hated it. It seems to have to get warm before it acts normal. I went with Mantic because of this feedback.

Wait, doesn't all the stock clutches on our cars release near the top?

The Mantic twin disc is a solid unit. The pedal pressure is only slightly heavier and they can handle serious power. PM sent. We should have these listed on our site shortly.

They do and I'm hoping this isn't just in my head as I have a C5 racecar and haven't been driving my Callaway as much. Last time I had it out I smoked the clutch pretty good and I thought that it has been weak for a while now. I just don't want to ruin my Daytona track day LOL. I'm going to Daytona to instruct the Ferrari Club and nothings better then running Daytona in the Callaway with the Ferrari's

My daily driver is a wrx and the clutch release point is about an inch off the floor. And my Z isn't a daily driver so yes sometimes after a week of the wrx, i get into the Z on the weekend and i go move it and i forget how long the clutch travel is before it reaches the catch point.
I don't have a callaway but i assume the callaway cars get a different clutch than a stock z06 to hold the extra hp/tq?
I do the ranger method about twice a year, or once every 2500 miles so maybe it helps.
But the only way for you to know if your clutch is really slipping is to do the clutch test. If the clutch doesn't grab anymore when you accelerate hard, then it's on it's way out.

You may be surprised at how much better your clutch will feel afterwards.
The bleed screw on the C7 is at a slightly different clock angle than on the previous generations so its not as hard as folks make out.
The ranger bleed procedure is ok as a band aid but it isn't near as good at clearing air and impurities out of the system as a proper bleed at the bleed screw.
