C7 Z06 or C6 ZR1...
Maybe this has been discussed before but it is all in fun and about opinion...
If you were looking at spending the same amount of money, would you choose the C7 Z06 or C6 ZR1 and why?
I've never been in a C7 in any capacity so have no clue on the improvements offered in this platform over it's prior version.

BUT if you could get a zr1 sub $50k or something then maybe I'd reconsider

Having owned both and modified both to 700+whp, I would go C6 ZR1 and I currently have a C7 Z06.
For me personally, I just thought the C6 ZR1 was more fun and it is a bit "easier/cheaper" to mod.

C7 z06.
The C6ZR "was" an amazing car, but there's a new king now.
If you're spending that much, go with something newer. Why go backwards?

I've driven both a lot and wouldn't trade my c6zr1 for a c7z. Dont know why exactly, just feel like the c6 is cooler and dont like all of the tech in the c7. Too many sports cars feel like caddies these days.

Unless you only plan on keeping it a year or so there is one very good reason why you shouldn't go with a C6ZR1, lack of GM Repair Parts. GM and most other OEMs don't generally support models over 10 years of age unless they are high volume vehicles that can generate sufficient business for them to be bothered procuring spare parts. The newest ZR1s are now 6 years old. Due to low volumes there are probably certain parts that aren't available at this time. The first things to go are all of the little parts.

Owned three C6 Z06, loved them for balance and how nimble it was.
owned one C6 ZR1, and i never became a fan .... despite it being the same car as Z06 more or less.... It was nervous on the limit.. never ever got used to it and eventually lost her up Eu rouge at SPA
Then i have owned two C7 Z06, 2016 A8 and now 2018 M7.......
Die hard Manuel fan, but A8 would be my preferred track toy...... IF it didn't overheat like it did.... Even M7 have issues when going 10/10...
Thank god there are solutions IF you do track hard....
daily driver.... C7 by a BIG margin..... its such a big improvement over C6 !
Good luck, you can't go wrong either way... after all, your choice is between the two best bang for buck cars on the planet :-)

There is a bigger difference between the C7Z and the C6Z than there was between the C5Z and the C6Z.
The C6ZR1 is based on the C6Z with a different powertrain, brakes, and springs.
The C7Z is compared to the C6ZR1 just because of engine power, the rest of the C6ZR1 is more like a 1997 FRC than it is a C7.

Personal preference --- both are terrific cars.
C6ZR! = Revolutionary: first time for use of supercharger, carbon ceramic brakes in Corvette, use of visible carbon fiber weave body panels
C7Z06 = Evolutionary: refinement of concept, improvement of power management system, interior electronics, seating

The new body style of the C7 makes it a no brainer for me. The C6 is very plane looking to me. The wide body is better but still plane.

But overall the design is already dated, and the interior is ancient.
You're spending 100% of your driving inside the car, so why not have a better interior?
Power you can always increase. But you can't fix a design. What's old is old and what's new is new.
Newer cars, almost all the time look better then previous generations. The corvette one example of that. The C6 looked better than the C5's. The C7's look better than the C6's. And when the C8 comes out, it will be better looking than the C7.
Why even bother with an old car when the next installment of the corvette is coming? At least bring yourself up to date a little bit.

Went through the same internal debate 2 years ago. Was leaning towards the c6zr1 until I drove a c7z... the interior advancements and overall drive-ability made it the obvious choice for daily/weekend needs. The C6 interior is beyond dated and once you get a taste of the good, comfortable life in a c7 you can't go back.

^^^Agreed. C6 ZR1 is a bad *** car, but for what I use the car for, the C7Z was the better choice. Ideally, I'd love to have both!
