Engine area rattle
I have a momentary rattling noise coming from the front area of the engine just as I start to accelerate from a dead stop. Same thing whether in drive or reverse. It goes away immediately as the rpm's go up and the engine runs fine. This is a 2016 A8 with 15K miles on it. Obviously, something isn't right. For us older guys with good memories, I'd describe it as a water pump rattle on an older car. It seems to me that I remember seeing a couple of threads that involved the supercharger idler pulley or the harmonic balancer as the likely culprit. It's going in to the dealer soon for an alignment and a couple of other things and I'd like to know if there's something specific that other guys have found to be the cause of the noise. Any help greatly appreciated.
