Default Any reason NOT to lower Z06 on stock bolts?

I plan on lowering all the way counter clockwise on lowering bolts stock. But I’m curious as to how many decided against it?

The reason to do it is for looks. The reasons not to do it are, alignment, dragging parts over driveway aprons, maybe bottoming out. It may cause handling problems.
It does not appeal to me but, to each his own.

I have gone the route of NOT lowering. Yes i think lowered looks much better but i already scrape pulling out of my drive way so it would only make it worse. Also there are some fun backroads that have rough areas and i do not care to risk bottoming out. Plus these old knees already grown getting in out of Foxy so going lower would just make them grown louder! Other than looks just does not appear to be any be advantages to lowering the car.

YES, lowering looks cool until you scrape the $hit off of something under the car, etc.

PS: Due to my driveway I had to remove the front splitter so I would not destroy it and its still pretty close to the ground at rest. Now, I think it looks cool/muscular & all business that way.

LOOK MA, NO SPLITTER!!!

I chose not to lower on aftermarket but, lowered all the way on stock bolts. I've read that the stock bolts are raised for delivery travel.

Besides scraping and damaging the car on speedbumps or uneven surfaces the only technical reason I can think of is it limits cooling air under the car. There have been failures of exhaust valves because of this. I agree lowered looks better, but I kept mine stock.

Depends. How often do you go off road? Are you happy with the appearance of the vehicle now? In before the "leave it the way the good General intended" crowd. Ooof too late

I heard it effects long term for the suspension because the shock has to travel farther?? Something like that. I think either Higgs or bill Dearborn has an answer as they're the most knowledgeable on this forum imo.

But I'm doing it anyway because I won't have the car that much longer anyway. So if the suspension does get affected I probably won't even have the car anymore lol

Our cars look so bad with the 4x4 look lol.

Z07 cars are higher than non z07 and mine is non z07 and the wheel gap hurts my eyes lol. I can fit 3 fingers tire to fender. I want to get at LEAST 1 finger lower.

C8 has the problem solved with push button up/down. I'll be leaving mine stock ride height because of my driveway. Knowing that, I just got alignment done at stock height, so there's that.

That's why after you lower the car, your supposed to do a "ride height relearn." After lowering mine, I had a GM tech do mine. Then, you get an alignment with the DSC track/street specs and call it a day. My car handles great, has zero issues and looks SICK!!!

GM knows how to set the ride height. Lowered cars look really ricer.

Ride height relearn? Meaning the tech just drove the car around until the height settles?? lol jk.

I lowered my C6 on stock bolts. Took about 30-45 minutes of driving for it to settle. And i didn't do an alignment but i did trade the car in less than a year later. Didn't notice any uneven tire wear.

But i know the C7Z suspension is much more advanced (mag ride) so i think i'm just gonna lower it, then drive it to an alignment shop and call it a day.

Like i said i won't care because in about 2 years i'll have a new toy, so IDGAF what happens to the suspension after i trade it lol

My Z06 drags enough as is, I certainly don't want to make it worse. I drive my cars. My ZR1 has the ZTK so it rides a little higher than the low wing cars do, but it doesn't scrap badly at all.

Yeah i could never drive my car that has the height of the Z07, i'm OCD like that lol.

Does anyone know for lowered cars, GM alignment or "track" type alignment is recommended?

Hey do you have any more pics of your car lowered?? Like different angles etc?

It seems like my car will drop as much as yours when i do it. Do you scrape your front splitter? I have the stage 3 too.

i feel bad for all of you who live in shitty road areas and claim of scraping/dragging everywhere.

dropped mine all the way down, no issues on any road yet.

It’s a fallacy that GM sets the height consistently. Go to any dealership and look st their new inventory. There is no consistency in the heights.

As another poster mentioned I heard it’s to facilitate shipping. No one would ever design such a sweet looking car to look so outrageous as some of the 4x4s
