Need opinion on Z07 pads, are these worn?

Yup. Those $0.50 pieces of styrofoam are only $29 online (is what it is). Dealers just toss 'em out when prep is done. I think a wad rags would do the trick in preventing chips.

They are designed to slip on before wheel removal, unsure a “wad of rags” would be as easy or functional. Thankfully my dealer kept mine in the car after PPI.

I just ordered the $29 foam yesterday. Penny Wise....
I have new rims and tires coming at the end of the month, last night I looked and the wheels have locks and I don't have the key?

Lock nuts can be removed without key by any dealer, tire installer or serious wheel thief. You will need to order a new set of locks ($40) if you want to keep using them. I plan to not bother since I will be keeping an eye on my car. Also, insurance claims for wheel theft won't hurt premiums too much.

Keep in mind the inner pads are typically more worn than the outer pads as the inner pads make contact with the brake pistons.
Thus, the inside faces of the front rotors may have already been damaged.

**** I sure hope not, fun times. They better reimburse me for rotors too if that's the case.

Amazon has good prices on the rotors and pads as do some of the online GM parts sellers that sponsor the forum.
By the way the dealer mechanic that works on my car uses the split foam pipe insulation that you can get at Home Depot or Lowes to protect the rotors when he is removing/installing wheels. A lot cheaper than paying for the stuff supplied by GM.

You may have a rotor problem whether or not the pads gouged the rotors. It is hard to tell from your pictures but the front rotors look like they are pock marked. From the angle your picture was taken the front rotors seem to be heavily pock marked which usually starts to happen after 9 or 10 track days. Compare them to the rear rotors. They should look smooth like your rear rotors seem to look. Excessive pock marking reduces pad life considerably since the sharp edges of the pock marks wear the pads down. On my car I went from using two sets of pads over 12 track days to using one set of pads over 3 days due to rotor pock marking. Others have had similar experiences.

My 1st C7 Z06/Z07 came with the foam protectors. I never used them. In my opinion they were much more trouble than they were worth. I changed my back wheels almost weekly, going to my drag radials. I was just always very careful when I changed them. Never had a problem. Now that I also have a 19 ZR1 I will just do the same, although I won't be tracking it so not going to be changing them much at all.

It was time to change them at the front! because the CCB rotors cost a pair of loins !
When I work on the wheels, I use the GM foams delivered with the ZO7 and also the tool MagAssist from ZL1 Addons , the latter also allows me to make less effort, ah when you're old...

Update: Front pads AND rotors are shot. Got an estimate from Chevy for $7k which I get is way too expensive. The dealership that sold me the car wants a second opinion and said they will work with me on the job.

That's awful, I hope you get it sorted out. $7K is not the right price for fronts only. Seems high. The whole brake package is about that when ordering a car form the factory.

Each rotor is $1,700, and pads are $550 per wheel. So parts alone is $4500. As for the other $2,500, are they saying it takes 25 hours @ $100/hr to install front rotors and pads? Something is out of whack with that estimate. I think they quoted you all 4 wheels.

They're using direct OEM pricing, I already bought pads for $550.
