For track days this year I think getting a set of Tow hooks may be a good idea. Anyone have any experience or can recommend a good quality set? Do you think they are necessary? I was thinking a folding set so if I have to drive with them on on the street I won't look like a tard (pardon my terminology) I would like a set that can actually be used by the way not Amazon Chinese ones that will break if a leaf lands on them Thanks

Lots of ricers running around town here with the heavily cambered wheels and front and rear tow hooks. My Z06 is reliable, I don't need no stinking tow hooks on the street. Even if I tracked my car, (vert) which I don't, I would use the bridle I have in my cubby rather than hooks. Unless you are truly tracking/racing, just another fad.
He asked about a tow hook for track days and some organizations require tow hooks for track days. Then again, since you have never tracked your convertible, you would not know that. Thank goodness you were able to get your unsurprising opinion of ricers off your chest though.

do not need to worry about "folding" ones. Just unscrew them when not on the track and put them in the trunk.

I am not sue what others have experienced with installing them but mine was a little challenging. First the front grill has to be lifted ever so slightly. You would have figured that GM would engineer the opening for the receiver to be in the middle of a grill opening. Nope. You need a little gentle pressure up on the section where the hook inserts. My receiver was not parallel to the ground. I suspect that is due to the fact that the force from the the tow rope is angled upwards and this helps with towing. Not 100% on that but why else would it not be parallel to the frame/ground. The first time screwing mine in took a little elbow grease. The receiver thread either had some road debris or paint/finish on the frame from manufacturing as had to take a small wire brush and spin it inside the receiver before I could get the threads to bite. Knowing all this, if I had an issue that I needed a tow truck for and it was night or bad weather I would not want to be messing around with getting this in.
Here is what I was referring to about the front grill. The hook is from ZL1Addons BTW.

Zl1 addons is the way to go. I have them front and rear. Last time I drove my car on the street I had to use mine to winch my car on the trailer, 2015 z06, cars break and being prepared is smart.

First off, my apologies to the OP if my remarks offended.
As in many things on the internet sometimes our written words do not come across the same as what is on our minds. And truthfully I was being facetious. My feeling is that tow hooks on my vert would also look just as silly given my car is not eligible to be tracked seriously without a roll bar or cage. I did know that some organizations (particularly in Europe) do require that tow hooks be in place to run on tracks. Regarding the extreme camber, it looks rather strange and serves little or no practical purpose on the street. Our local tire dealers probably like it though. Only seeing that look on Asian imports in my area I categorized it in the common vernacular. I have also seen some of these cars that have been modified to performance levels that are quite impressive and I respect that. Kind of like the dual stack 4x4 pickup trucks that have been chipped and can run a quarter mile quicker than most of our Corvettes. I respect their performance but it is not my thing.
ZL-1 Add-ons are excellent quality. I've got the titanium ones on both cars and really like them. Super light and very well made. Have to recommend their permanent jacking pads too but make sure you use loctite blue on them.
