Default Spring Mountain Corvette Z06 Owners School 7/20-7/21

Just signed up for the owners school the weekend after the C8 reveal 😎

i can’t wait 😃. I Never had formal driving instruction training, but have done several of those exotic SCCA multi lap programs.

Any advice or suggestions to maximize training benefit appreciated.

You will love it. Just pay attention to the instructors. They are VERY GOOD! I was there in April and I loved it. May go back in the fall for the advanced class.

Thanks. My goal is to become a safer and better driver and see how close I can get to the limits of this car.

My old 2016 Stingray was quick and fun, but the Z is just insane. I have a stupid grin on my face every time I drive it 😝

I am planning on attending this summer. Any recommendations for a hotel close by that is good quality. Also open to good places to eat and dine while out in Nv.

In Pahrump, about 10 minutes West of SM, there are KFC, McDs, etc. Also in your condo at the track, you will get a list of local restaurants. The steak house in the Pahrump Casino was pretty good. There are fridge, microwave and coffee maker in the room, so bring pop, beer and snacks. They supply coffee, tea, water.
As far as hotels, I went to Vegas for a couple days after the school.
Also, be careful driving on rt.#160 around Pahrump. There are very few(if any) Speed Limit signs and the cops know it. It's a BIG source of revenue for them.
I wouldn't go over 55-60mph between SM and Pahrump.
Enjoy! Let us know how you do.

If you go in the summer months you get 2 nights in a condo right at the track, and an SD card to use in the PDR. The best restaurant in the area is Symphony, it's at the Pahrump Winery and only about a 5 minute drive from the track. Some great hotels in Vegas after the school, summer rates tend to get ridiculously cheap, really nice suites at the Aria, Wynn/Encore, Venetian, Bellagio, etc from around $150/night. For Spring Mountain, if you get the 2 nights in a condo you can check in as early as 3PM the day before your class, relax and grab a nice dinner at Symphony, and meet some other attendees. Summer classes start at 7AM, breakfast in the clubhouse opens between 5:30 and 6AM, lunch about noon and class lets out about 3PM.

Agreed with Symphony, it's a great restaurant and winery. We were there with my wife in March and loved it, we stayed at the condos... I thought everybody gets that.

My wife took the new Z06 owner's class and she loved it. She has never driven on a racetrack before just sat next to me on ACS Roval once and she loved it. After the school she told me that now she understands why I love going to the track so much
I took the Advanced class, even though I have never been there before, Ricky "Bobby" :P let me join after a quick talk over the phone, but I don't recommend that to new to the track drivers.

You will be tired, it's a lot of driving so don't make too much evening plans and don't get drunk at night! Go have a good dinner and get some sleep.

Take some racing shoes with you! You can also buy them at the track at their gift shop.

Have fun and don't worry about lap times, worry about following the instructions you get from their instructors, they are really great and they really know these cars and the tracks!

I'm also attending the 7/20-21 Z06 school. Anyone know about transportation options from the airport to SM? Best to just rent a car?

Yes. Rent a car. SM is about an hour West of Vegas on highway 160. You will take a shuttle bus from McCarren(Vegas) airport to a remote car rental center a few blocks away from the airport.
You are gonna LOVE IT. The ZO6 on track is phenomenal !
You will drive about an hour west and all of a sudden you will see a huge billboard saying, "SPRING MOUNTAIN, TURN HERE." Make a rt. turn and go to first building on your right to register.
Enjoy!

My wife and I are going in July. Rented a car from budget. Driving back to Vegas after the course and staying that night and flying back home.

Wow. My TPW is 7/15 and I plan to look into this. $1,000 is a great price! I will call them tomorrow to ask- but does anyone know how long they will have C7s (Z06’s) as their track cars?

The winery restaurant was very good as we ate there 2-3 times. wear shorts and tee shirts driving in the heat and comfortable driving shoes or something like low cut sneakers, narrow and smooth soled. Keep hydrated.

Great place, you'll love it. We ate there every night each time we've been at Spring Mountain, met the owners, they're from Minnesota of all places. If you're a wine drinker they have tastings pretty much daily, and will ship wine for you as well.

That was so awesome. The facility is great, the instructors are great. The ride along demo lap is insane our cars are awesome !!!

Great time 😇

this is is my first formal class and I had a blast. Make sure you get the PDR. Definitely helps improving your driving skills and seeing where I was messing up. 🤪

met Mike Furman, terrific guy. I will definitely work with him on future purchases. Classy guy

met a lot of corvette enthusiast and great people.

You will definitely have fun and learn a lot. At least I did. Hopefully I can take another course 😎

watch your speed driving in and out of the area. Lots of LEO and we heard they were really tough.

good luck 😇
