Default 2018 pilot car

I recently acquired a Z06, convertible, carbon 65, pilot vehicle with 3LZ package. According to the Corvette black book, 25 - Z06 pilot cars were built for 2018 and 5 were Carbon 65 optioned (645 Carbon 65’s + 5 Carbon 65 pilots = 650 total). Often pilot cars are used for marketing/photo shoots. I’m trying to get more information on this specific cars (it’s history) but can’t seem to find it anywhere. The dash plaque lists 000 of 650 and the last digits of the VIN is 00017, so it’s an early production year car. I’m thinking I may need to contact the Corvette Museum? Thoughts from anyone on how to obtain more history?

Go to your local GM dealer with the VIN and have the run a VIS (Vehicle Information System) report................ it will include the information you are looking for, it will give you the GM area which had it initially.................. mine is a 2013 427 convertible, VIN 0037 and was a GM car before I had it, and all this showed up on my report..........

Did you ever find any answers. I have a pilot C7Z with rare Vin that starts with 5 instead of a 6. It was the second C7Z made and first laguna blue. It’s one of 60 made. Vin last 6 digits are 500002. Wondering if there is any significance to owning one of these?

According to the black book, your VIN confirms you have a pilot car. All 2015 Z06 pilots had a last 6 of 5000001 through 500077. Beyond that, the black book doesn’t provide any further details.

Thanks for the info. 👍 I called Betty in records are the NCM and she also confirmed it was a pilot car. It was number 2 of 60 made. Used for promos or exec cars up in Michigan. The first pilot cars start with a 5 in the last 6 digits of the vin. After that all the ZO6s start with a 6 on the last 6 digits of the vin. So I’m guessing it would be a rare vin since only 60 were made with that vin sequence? It was the 1st laguna blue C7Z made.
