Default Market for cracked wheels

Hi folks

I'm sitting on 2 cracked wheels that I just took off my car. Trying to figure out if there is a secondary market for these cracked wheels or if I should just trash the wheel right away.

Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks!

Just about to replace one of mine as well. If anyone has any ideas it would be appreciated. Only wish I could sell them back to GM or their dealers for the same as they want to charge to replace obvious defective materials that they knowingly put into the cars. Doesn't that really want to make you rush out and buy a new C-8 .

Made a garden hose reel out of one of my bent wheels. Not good for much else. Wonder if the C8 cast wheels are being made by the same lowest bidder company in Mexico?

Haha this is amazing. Can you share some pictures? I’d like to do this to mine too.

Garden hose reel! Great idea ! Maybe we can form a company and help illegals go through the appropriate immigration process and start a company selling quality reproduction c7 wheels.

They are aluminum so there is some scrap value at whatever pennies per pound the local scrap yard will pay you for them. After Googling scrap aluminum prices it looks like the scrap value for cast aluminum is ~ .30 per pound so you are looking at maybe $6.00 scrap value.

Are the wheels that are cracking only chrome or are the black wheels cracking too?

So did you buy more GM wheels or forged? This was just posted on the ZR1 forum, might be worth checking on. Good luck with whatever you do.

The majority are black although most of the cars have black wheels so that would be expected. All of the OEM's are junk.

For God's sake, don't buy any more GM wheels! Go to decent forged ones and be done with it. Will cost you close to $4K but it will end the problem.

I have a bent front wheel and a cracked rear wheel in my attic. I would think the typical rear wheel cracks could be repaired but ill look into that on the next cracked one lol

I would like to see how those Titan7 TS-5 wheels look on a C7Z though

maybe a dumb thought, but why not have them repaired? I know there is a company here in So Cal that does them... A guy I know had his repaired and to my knowledge, hasn't had any issues with them after the repair..

I can get the bent wheels repaired but none of the shops around here are willing to repair the cracked wheels. They’re saying it will fail more catastrophically later if they fix it now. Also goes inline with what I’m hearing from other folks on the forums.
