Default Which launch technique?

Hey guys, I'm curious how most of you launch your A8 C7Z at the drag strip. I have always launched mine from idle with decent success. I have a bolt on Z that has run a best of 10.08 at 138. I always thought stalling up the converter was harder on the driveline but now I'm wondering if that's correct. Maybe the guys that have broken the spider gears or half shafts can share how they were launching their car. I'd like to hear the different sides on this one. Thanks!

I have never run my Z06 at the strip, have only played on open roads doing a few different launch methods so you have much more experience then me, but I could not imagine that holding your foot on the brake and giving it throttle to get some positive boost could be bettered by just sitting at idle and then pushing on the go pedal. Perhaps I have misinterpreted your question. BTW 10.08 at 138 is damn fast...you must be pushing 700WHP?

Mine too works the best launching from an idle.

1.46-1.50 60 ft. depending of course on the surface prep and DA. 6.67 @104 is my best time.

325/35R18 ET Street R's.

On the Cordes dyno it's making 567 HP 657 TQ.

Haven't run my at the 1/4 mile yet, just our local 1/8th mile track since I had a few mods done.

Thanks guys. I've tried stalling the Rpm's up and my 60's are generally about the same or a little worse. Just wondering if most guys that break stuff are launching from idle or stalling it up? I can usually run a consistent 1.46-1.48 60' from idle on my 315 Hoosier DR's.

I tried launching from idle and stalling it up to about 2k rpm's. I like stalling it up best, mine launches harder that way. If guys are breaking stuff, I'm sure they are shocking the drive line components by launching it off-idle and suddenly slamming the gears. Most people that run slower 60 ft times by stalling it, are spinning off the line (from talking to people at the track).

Are you still on the stock rear end and half shafts? I assume this is a 15" rear tire? That is a killer 60' time! I'm just trying to get into the upper 9's without tearing the rear end apart. Then I will likely dial back the ethanol and be content in the deep 10's. Otherwise my local track is going to force me to install a roll cage, which I will not do to this car

I was stalling mine to about 2K RPM when I broke my axle and differential. Very sticky track and was consistently doing 3.5's on the 60 ft.

These cars make so much torque from the go they really don't need to be stalled up. Damn good numbers for bolt on cars though. You guys running meth too?

No meth for me. Running E50 though. Any more than that and the stock fuel pumps start to fall on their face.
