Hey guys, I have a 15 C7Z and I'm wondering if the fuel pump has been changed or updated on the newer models. Especially if the ZR1 is using a different pump. Thanks!
From what I have read its not backwards compatible because it operates differently than the previous pumps and uses a different controller or different ECU logic vs. the earlier pumps. Maybe somebody has figured a work around to get a '19 pump into the earlier cars.
Are you having specific issues with your 15 that you believe warrants a bigger pump? Even the '19 pump wont flow enough to run E85, so you gotta do something else.
Ok, thanks. I'm getting a fuel smell and I just saw that there is a TSB to replace the pump. Figured I'd have them upgrade as long as they are in there

I don't know if the 2015 cars had the same problem as the 2016s, but in ours we got a letter warning that if we got a fuel smell it might be because of cracks in the left fuel tank around the fuel pump flange and GM gave an extended 10 year/120,000 mile warranty on the fix (which would be expensive if not warranted). Symptoms might include fuel odor, fuel on the ground or a check engine light if the tank is less than half full. A fuel smell is something that I would always want to have checked quickly by the dealer. --Bob
