Getting this message in 2018 a8 , Service Brake Assist. Perhaps this his been asked before, but I could not find a for sure answer. Car has big cam, but not sure if it is related.
Only thing I can think of is your big is not producing enough vacuum. The brakes are vacuum assisted and maybe the computer is reading a low vacuum situation?
Trying to figure this out without having a code is like looking for a needle in a haystack. All Service Messages like this are generated due to a code being set, that code will tell you where to look for the problem and the specific diagnostic procedure for that code will help you isolate the problem. At least 45% of all codes that can be generated are not power train related, so, an OBD2 scan tool may not be able to read the code if the code isn't power train related. .
