Default Z06 mode preference

I am looking to buy a Z06 and this weekend I went to a dealership to test drive one and loved it! Im very excited to be getting back into a vette and my first Z. I have a question for those of you who are currently owners and sorry if this has been discussed already... What mode does everyone prefer to drive in? I started out in Sport mode, but noticed that the back gets loose pretty easy so I switched to Tour mode and noticed that it was much more manageable. This will be a DD so im sure that Eco and Tour mode will be what I drive in most. Let me know your thoughts!

I drive in Sport 100% of the time. I don't have the updated MRC software. I never switch over when on a harsh road. I'm too busy trying to keep the saliva from running out of my ****-eating grin as I mash the accelerator pedal and listen to the nasty roar of that incredible exhaust as it surrounds me.

Sorry, everyone. I think I just had a moment.

Since buying my car at the end of summer, I've not done many miles in it, but when I have it has mostly been Eco mode or even weather......English winter is not a good time for the tyres to have any grip, so I've been having to take it very easy!
As soon as it warms up over here and I have faith in the grip, I imagine I'll be using sport and even track mode more than anything else, unless I'm sitting on the motorway then Eco mode makes most sense.

I have an M7 Z06/Z07. I track my car a fair amount so my favorite driving modes are Tour or Eco for the street and Track Sub Mode Sport 1, Sport 2 or Race on the track. Track Modes are sort of chosen by how I am feeling on a particular day or the track I am running on. I have used Weather Mode on the street when driving in particularly nasty weather and have also used Wet Mode on Track. For some reason I have never used Dry mode. From a handling standpoint Tour Mode on the street does a great job. I have a small roundabout at the entrance to my development. Most people creep through it at 15 mph but I have been able to push the Vette through it at close to 30 mph and working at taking it faster. Interesting thing is the speed limit through the roundabout is 35 mph which means that is one of the few places where I might not be able to exceed the speed limit no matter how much I try.

I think I have only used Sport Mode once or twice to see what was different about it but really didn't notice anything other than extra stiffness in the steering and suspension which didn't really measure up to much.

I'm in Sport mode 90% of the time. I usually switch it over to Tour mode on the highway or if there are any bumpy roads.

Sport pretty much 100% of the time. Will change to Tour if the road I am traversing at the time is particularly harsh. I find the car has too much understeer for my taste in Tour. (The car in general has too much understeer, but that is a subject for a different thread and with 700RWTQ, it is nothing my right foot cant correct nearly instantly )

Tour mostly, as it's easy to keep an eye on oil, water temps, battery charging etc.

I drive both my cars in Tour mode most of the time. If I feel like driving a little aggressive I go all the way to Track and sometimes into the sub group. My Z06 is a 2016 and still has the original MRI program in it. I'm going to update it soon as my 19 ZR1 rides like a Cadillac in Tour mode.

I drive mainly in sport mode, unless I am on a bumpy road...then i'll switch to tour mode. I have a DSC controller too though.

I run in Sport mode most of the time, but after I had my magnetic ride update done I now use Tour on rough IL streets...the Z06 / wZ07 were pretty harsh before update... I at least have a mode I can go to now for those roads

Dash display and suspension settings can be uncoupled via the settings. The OP is talking about suspension settings. My suspension is set to Sport, but my dash is set to Track, and my HUD is set to Tour.

You can do that in any driving mode if you set the display to permanently display tour mode.

I leave it in Tour mode w/1000 rwhp. I just use the mode dial if I want to change the suspension. I leave exhaust in Stealth in my neighborhood and Race or Track or whatever everywhere else.

I still haven't gotten around to really programming all the different options separately so I go with the full mode specs. I usually drive in either Tour or Sport mode. I like the sound of Sport mode the best with my Borla X-pipe. The downshifts especially sound louder and more aggressive and the car roars when I put my foot into it. The ride is stiffer than in Tour mode but since I live/drive in Florida, most of the roads are in pretty good shape. I usually keep the car in Tour mode when driving through the neighborhood or on an extended expressway run.

I run in tour with full nannies on and traction control off when the temps are above 70 degrees— otherwise power gets cut to much when you mash on the gas) under 70 degrees tour with traction control on and under 70 degrees forget about laying on the gas— it’s like driving on grease with the Michellen non cup tires.

as for the dash settings I like tour and there is a setting where you can get an easy to read digital read out on oil temp, water temp , voltage and tire pressure ok reading. — other than that the all the dash settings are pretty useless / hard to read on the dashboard.
The heads up display in Comp mode is good.

if you haven’t pulled the trigger on a c7z— knowing what I know about the car after owning it if I were you I would wait for a c8 or check out a nice c6z and get the heads done

if you are looking at an automatic check out all the threads on driving impressions and problems with the a8.

if you are buying used make sure the intercooler tank is properly bled with no air bubble in the tank before you sign the contract . It’s a huge pain to bleed the air pockets out , requires special equipment most dealers don’t have and when the pump on the intercooler cavitates the ecm cuts power way back and these cars run like a dog with an intercooler that has bubbles in it. Do a search on this topic. There is a lot of info here
