Default Stupid move!

I noticed a number of small stones stuck between my stage 2 winglets and the splitter/front body panel. Tried everything to get them out but no luck. So I loosened off the two bolts holding the winglet to the splitter and cleaned them up. Now I'm trying to tighten the winglets back to the splitter but the bolts don't tighten, seems like the nuts inside the splitter twist on the end of the bolt.

It appears I'm going to have to drop the bottom cover on the splitter in order to get to the winglet bolts inside the splitter but I don't want to run into the same issue with the bolts/nuts holding the lower air cover onto the splitter where the bolt spins and I won't be able to tighten the bolts on the cover.

For those that have removed a winglet (level 2 or 3), how were you able to tighten the exterior bolts on the winglet? Drop the splitter cover?

Thanks in advance for help with this "stupid move"..

I replaced a winglet from the outside they didn't spin. The lower ones should be no problem.

I took one off a year ago to do some touch-up painting and had no issues with screwing it back on.

So I popped several of the screws out of the lower cover and managed to reach up to the nuts for the screws on the winglets. Could feel them spinning with the screw when I tried to tighten the winglets. Looks like they were ordinary nuts that were put in place by the dealer when installed aero package. No issues getting the lower cover screws to tighten back up..

Those of you who didn't have an issue must have had dealer install using something other than an ordinary nut.

And having to get down under the splitter made me cringe. Looks like there have been a few "close calls" on the spiltter as had several scratches on the lower edge of the splitter. Can remember one driveway in particular but didn't think it hit so many spots on the splitter.

Another glorious day in paradise!
