Hi All.
It's been a while since I've posted. I own a 2016 Z06 / MN7 -19000 miles and lately my car is having key FOB issues.
On the first start of the day, push the start button and nothing happens for several seconds, then starts normally.
Exiting the car, the FOB won't lock or unlock the doors
Taking the FOB out of range of the car seems to help as it works when back in range.
All this is intermittent and happens with both Key FOBs.
I always keep the key FOB in the steering column slot.
I am particularly worried about getting stuck with a no start situation.
Is there a way to start the car if the FOB isn't recognized?
Thoughts on what's going on?
Could the batteries on both FOBs be going bad at the same time??
If those are the original batteries in the FOBs, I’d get them replaced. I have a 16 Z06 as well, same mileage as you. Had similar problems 8-10 months ago. Replaced the batteries and problem solved.
I change batteries on keyless fobs for push button start vehicles every 24 months... Vette, Harley, daily... Keyless push button start is great...unless the battery is dead..
If the fob is not recognized you can pull the key from the fob and open your trunk. Then pull the latch on the right side of the trunk above the wheel well. That will open the driver door. Now with the key still out of the fob put the fob itself into the steering column on the right side of the column and you can then start the car (as you know). But yes, it is probably both batteries in the fobs run down in combination with your car battery age if you have not had that replaced yet.

I bought a 2016 Z06 a few months back and when we went to look at it both fobs batteries were dead so I’m thinking this is likely your problem also. He changed batteries before I got it and no problems ever since
