16 zo6 and when I start up car rear end hums for 15 sec and now when I make some turns at low speed rear end feels like it slipping or rear tire skip. I am aware of front tire skips on tight turns but I not turning sharp and feels like skip in rear? Also never noticed the hum, is that normal?
How many miles? Did you watch the ELSD screen in the DIC to see if it shows cycling the clutch pressure while it is humming? Might be trying to reset clutch pressure for clutch wear.
I have 11k miles, I will watch it when I drive tomorrow. The noise is new and when I turn sound like rear end slips and not even with sharp turn? The hum last about 10-15 sec
The hum is probably the hydraulic pump. Normally it runs when you are driving and you can't hear it over other noises. It doesn't seem normal that you hear it each time you start. What does the tire skip feel like...like a tire spinning or the same as the front tire skip. Turn you DIC to the ELSD before you start the car. When you start and hear the hum see if it goes from 0% lock to 100%. Then watch what it does when you drive. See what % lock it is showing when turning corners and you feel the slip.
Today when I started the car I counted 9 cycles on the ELSD that ranged from o to 100%. It lasted about 15 sec and if I take off and turn the rear wheel will skip. I just dropped it off at chev and the tech recorded the long cycle. One it cycles 9 times it is then fine to turn. It makes sense that if the diff was locked it would skip when you turn.
It will be interesting to hear what the dealer determines is causing the problem. They might throw a few parts at it without knowing the exact problem. Seems the controller doesn’t recognize the clutches are engaged. Might be a sensor or the controller.
