Default Mods without tune?

Hello,
I have a 2016 z06 and I am wondering how much I can do without a tune. So far I have added a Mamo ported TB, NX lid, have a corsa x pipe and AFE intake with dry and oiled filters ready to install. Do you guys think all of this is safe in stock tune? If the car doesn’t throw a CEL would it be ok?

From what I've read here on the forum, you are about to max without a tune.

Everyone’s car is different so not really sure. I’d install the intake and give it a shot. If it leans out and you get a cel then either tune or just remove one or try a drop in air filter. I know the 3 mods I’m running are the most common and work the best together. I’m running Borla x, AFE cai, mamo Tb

i currently have a bms drop in. I added the nx lid and no cels so far, but it only has about 39 min of idle time while bleeding the gspeed kit. I know the 16 ecu’s are a little more forgiving than other years.

Don't know much about the lid kit. Yea the 17s are the tricky year with there ecu’s. Like I said give it a shot. If you have the bms drop in already you should be fine just swapping it with an afe since the main air flow comes from the filter anyways

Your fuel trims will be off a bit but it should be fine. There are some good power gains with just a tune though.

Why don't you put the car on a chassis dyno with a wideband O2 and check where you really are?

I dyno after every mod to the engine. I do it because I want to know:
1. Did the mod add power as advertised?
2. Is my tune/combination of mods still safe?

Without doing this you are just shooting in the dark. You really don't know where you are at. Could be too lean, could be pulling timing, could be down on power, could be up on power. YOU DON'T KNOW.

How expensive was your car? How expensive would it be to replace your engine? Now compare that to the cost of a dyno. It's cheap insurance.

From my experience with my current C7Z, my C6Z, and my C5, the TB, the X pipe, and the lid SHOULDN'T affect your tune, whether they add HP you won't know. The AFE likely WILL affect your tune. The earliest AFE intakes for the C7Z ran VERY lean.

Dyno your car (use the same dyno every time). Make sure it's safe using these mods. Verify the mods are worth the money.

I current have the AFE intake (installed yesterday) this replaced a BMS filter, ported TB and NX lid. No check engine lights or anything at this time. I haven’t been able to drive the car, as I am still waiting on brackets from Dewitts that didn’t ship with my order.

i am about 3 hours one way from a dyno. I haven’t installed the x pipe yet though.

I installed the 3" Corsa X-pipe; sounded good to me but when I went to the strip it slowed me down compared to the factory X-pipe with converters so I removed the Corsa. I reinstalled the factory X-pipe and the very next week the lost power was back.

I'm running the same three mods on my 2019 Z06 and no problems. My CAI is the GM "Jake" intake I installed at PDI through the dealership. I then added the Borla X-pipe (60547) and the Tony Mamo Ported Throttle Body about two months later.

No codes, but I did notice that upon initial start up, the idle was a little rough after I installed the ported throttle body. It eventually evened out after learning the new airflow.

I know the Corvette service manager at the dealership I bought my car and asked him at PDI about the planned mods and he told me any bolt-on mods that don't require a tune or resetting the factory computer are OK and will not void the warranty. After my first complimentary oil change, he also commented on how nice my (MGW) short-throw shifter felt as well.

I think I am safe with the intake, x pipe and throttle body, just not sure what the NX lid does. I know the 2017+ cars have the higher lid already though, so I would like to think it should still be ok.

i already ordered their complete aero kit, xl rock guards, blackout kit, and jacking pucks...then Forgeline wheels, toyo r888r tires...think that’s about it. I really do like their hoods though.

You got nothing to worry about then! I service my vehicle myself and she’s a garage queen so dealer visits for me are very rare
I have the AFE cai and the new version of Tony Mamo’s ported Tb. Upon start up I didn’t really see or feel anything out the ordinary, idle was okay. My Z is an A8..Over 100 miles since Tb installed and nothing but smiles
Seems like these 3 bolt on mods are the most common choices to squeeze out any hp before tunning. Would be curious just to dyno at this point and see what numbers show up.

I have same setup except haltech CIA,stock GM 100 octane tune.ran fine on stock tune before gm 100 tune.gm tune still keeps warranty.2016 had more leeway than later models.no CEL.car runs strong on 93 and better on 100.once you put in gm 100 tune you must use minimum 93 oct, which is everywhere here.also have NX lid

+1 on going to the Dyno, AND tune, but not necessarily required, just very highly recommended. Every car responds different, but within range for your mods.
