Default Water Pump Replacement

So i've searched the threads and can not find any info on someone having to replace a water pump on a C7 Z06. My story: I have a 17' Z06 with 7500 miles on it and I took the car in for an oil change, brake fluid flush and rear diff service (just because its 3 years old and preventative maintenance is not a bad thing) and the dealer sent me a video of evidence of coolant leaking on the lower hose from the water pump and some weeping around where the water pump mounts to the block. And they say the staining looks as if its been leaking for a while. They are suggesting replacing the water pump (under warranty). I've not seen a single drop on my garage floor, nor have I noticed the expansion tank level lower than normal (even dealer says it appears to be normal level). Even though its under warranty, I just hate to see the front of the motor torn apart for this job (though necessary). Has anyone else heard of this failure at such low mileage? Im told by the service writer its a 6 hour labor job and they need to keep the car overnight today and hopefully done tomorrow. Not gonna lie, i'm a bit nervous that they will mess something up. Anyone with a similar experience feel free to chime in and talk me off the ledge.lol

I wouldn't be too surprised about that. I would go ahead and let them take care of it. JMHO

The water pump isnt that bad of a job, why take the chance on a failure outside of the 3yr/36k warranty and on your dime. Do it now while it is covered.

If they will replace it under warranty, regardless of if its actually broken, do it. You get a free water pump, one less thing likely to break out of warranty

This exact scenario happened on another GM vehicle that I seldom drive - 7 years old, ultra low mileage, no fluid on garage floor, etc.

Unfortunately, the water pump was paid for out of pocket.

If you can get this replaced under warranty - that's an easy choice.

It's really the Dexcool that's causing most of the problems. It's just a little caustic and sitting in the engine day after day not being driven can actually cause more problems than one would think.

I have owned at least 8 vehicles that use Dexcool, never once had any issues with those vehicles. The problem happens when people mix Dexcool with regular antifreeze.

Get it fixed. I cant believe its even a question or concern. Also waterpump is 1.6hour book time.

fixing it isnt the concern, the dealers ability is the issue

So you will risk overheating and a roadside breakdown that could cause internal engine/head damage (That the dealer also has to fix), versus a really simply repair that prevents that from happening?
