Default 19x12 vs 18x12 rear drag radials

I see where the diameter of our factor rear wheels and tires are 26.6 inches. Mickey Thompson drag radials in 305/35-18 on a 18x12 rim are 26.7" diameter. Mickey Thompson drag radials in a 325/30-19 on a 19x12 rim are 27" diameter. I though I have read changing the diameter of the fronts or rear significantly will give some kind of traction control alarm. Anyone have either of these options? I want to go to a drag radial with a taller sidewall and same look as the factory so I only have to swap out the rears and keep the front factory wheels and tires.

The M/T ET Street R in a 325/35-18 (26.95") is about the closest you will find for a 18" rear. That tire isnt available in a 19" tire. The ET Street SS comes in a 305/35-18 (26.6") but gives up 30mm versus the stock width. I am in the same boat, I have a matching BC Forged 18x12 wheel coming so I can mount a set of drag tires on it.

I am looking at these for a 19x12 rim. Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S Racing Radial Tire - P325/30R19 the site claims 26.7" > am just curious how much taller the rear can be before I get issues with the traction control.

27.00 is not significant to get TC or ABS problems. I have read 1.06 is the max and 1.01 the minimum. Stock is ratio is 1.035, so if you have stock fronts, the 1.06 would be max 27.242 and the minimum 25.95. I would go with the 315/30-18 Hoosier to get a gearing gain, that is a 26in tire so the ratio vs front would be 1.0116

I just installed 335/30/18 Hoosier drag radials on my Stingray as I did not want to have a 27” tall tire. These are on 10.5x18 wheels

Those tires are going to be a 25.91" tall tire (26"). I looked at them online, just wasnt sure if I wanted a shorter tire. As of now my fronts are the OEM size 285/30-19 (25.73") and the rears are 325/30-19 (26.68" vs 26.59" stock).

I've read about these issues from some members but can't recall exact trigger for the issues. I believe it was more with oversized front tires. A search will definitely turn up some results. That said quite a few guys are running the MT ET Street SS's in 345/35/18 which is a 27.5" tire with no issues, stock sizing up front.

For performance the Street R would be better though right? I wonder why someone would go for the SS if they already have an 18 inch rim.

From what a supplier told me, the compound is exactly the same from between the Street R and the SS, only the sidewall is softer on the Street R and the SS is better in the wet stuff.

That is correct, but I can tell you for sure that the Type R's are in another level of performance over the ET SS. They made a big difference on my 16 Z06, and I got beadlock wheels so they don't slip on the rims like the SS's did. The SS's were ok in the rain as long as you kept the pressure up, but don't Even think about driving the R's on wet surfaces. They are basically 18" slicks.

Along the same subject line. Does anyone know if I can fit my existing 11"x18" (widened front C6 wheel currently on the rear of my C6 base with 305/35 18" MT drag radials) on my new to me '17 C7-Z06? I'm thinking they will stick better (stock HP) at the drag strip vs. the stock 335/25-20 MPSS tires (4 years old and 13K miles) that are on the car now.

I don’t see why they would not. Mount them up, double check and take for a spin

I have Nitto NT05Rs on 345/30/19 that are 27.36” and don’t get any kind of lights.
