Just purchased a 2016 Z06 from a dealer in St. Petersburg, Florida. Long Beach Red Metallic tintcoat, 3LZ A8. It was picked up at the museum and has a nametag on the dash...Ted Augustine. I wonder if he is a member here or if anyone knows him. I sure would like to talk to him. Any ideas??? Thanks

Sounds like a pretty sweet Corvette! I'm in for the .
great reason not to do museum delivery with the plate...
I think it's just double-backed tape and the bade comes off relatively easily. I have seen one without the placard and I assumed that the original owner just kept it with him.
I found the previous owner of my car after the dealer sent me the title. Did a Google search and found a phone number; texted the number and after he confirmed who he was, I told him who I was and that I had recently bought his Vette.
Asked if he could fill me in on the first 3600 miles of history and a few other things about the car.......
PO responded fairly rudely and was a complete dick.
I would be annoyed if someone reached out to me about a car I used to own too. Besides, what would I say other than the car was well taken care of? Would I tell the new owner I beat on the car every chance I got, modified the car, tuned it and ran e85 often, then returned it to stock, traded it in and let him know GM can deny any powertrain issues now since I tuned the car previously?
It's kind of like asking your new GF about all of her ex's. Who REALLY wants to know?

I sell my cars to a dealer or on consignment. I don't wanna know or talk to the new owners.
