Has anyone ever had a broken valve spring when this code sets? Tech bulletin said check for broken valve spring. No misfire codes no other codes. 2016 Z06 M7
Search this forum for the PO106 code.
Many of the earlier year models popped this code in the higher gears at over 130 mph.
GM pushed an update that cured the problem.
You didn't give the conditions or why you are thinking valve spring but I am guessing this is your issue.
Most likely nothing serious.

You would know it if you broke a valve spring especially if stock springs. Without dual springs it would drop a valve and you would hear it banging against the piston. If you even remotely hear noise do not crank it anymore. It's easy to pull the valve covers and check. You could just have a misfire bad plugs or wires or coil. Need more info.
No misfire. No other codes. No noise. My question was if anyone has had a broken valve spring with this code? The tech bulletin came up for this code said check for broken valve spring. But I haven't heard of anyone that had a broken valve spring for code P0106 Map sensor. I did see they had a update flash for the PCM for the P0106. I was just wondering about valve spring. Does the LT4 even have valve spring problems? Thanks
I am sure a small number of LT4's have broken a valve spring or 2 over the years.
But it isn't something they are known for.
Valve spring issues these days can affect any engine.
The issue usually results from QC in the spring manufacturing process and is often limited to a specific "production lot" of springs.
I believe the bulletins reference to the springs is saying, the P0106 would be the result of a bad spring, therefore if no other cause for a vacuum leak or manifold pressure issue is obvious, you could have a valve sealing issue in a head.
I think it would be pretty rare but not unheard of.
