From time to time I "exercise" my traction and stability control systems just to stay familiar with how they react and for a check to see if they are still operational. So I will pick a wide, open, street with no traffic close by and get on the throttle either from a standstill or low speed. And I only do this on wet pavement so as to minimize tire wear. (Yes, I do drive my car in the rain). It is a 2019 ZO6, A8.
Saturday afternoon I got caught in a sudden shower while out on some errands and decided to try it on a section of flat smooth road not far from my home. After a try in Touring mode, with just a small steering input, it occurred to me that I had never tried this in Weather mode. So I did, and the result surprised me. I don't think it was my imagination but the system allowed a noticeably more amount of wheelspin and rear end swerving than in Touring.
Has anyone else tried to compare the response time and level of control of the systems in the various driving modes? If so, what was your experience?
Participants in the Spring Mountain New Owner school got a chance to drive the cars to the limit on wet surfaces. One exercise was driving in a figure 8 on a water covered skid pad trying to spin the car out while operating in weather mode. It was very difficult to spin the car. It would slide and let the rear tires spin but the car would fight spinning out and everybody in my group could navigate their car around the figure 8 without any trouble. Compared to Touring Mode I find that Weather Mode is much more intrusive. The next time you take your car for a drive on a sunny dry day put the selector in Weather Mode and drive for a while (starting, stopping and turning both ways) to see how the car feels on dry pavement. Don't try to spin the tires just drive normally.

I also drive both of my Corvettes in the rain. My ZR1 doesn't have the weather mode, but I wish it did. It works great on my Z06. You can also try Track Mode in the "WET" setting and see how you like it. I do that in my ZR1 sometimes.
