End result...
I took the wheel to my dealer. Was told the cost to replace was $1000. I was expecting $750.
I told them to get a replacement.
They took photos and sent them to GM.
GM responded saying they would pay $400... $600 to me.
I accepted the offer (as if I had a choice) and filed a complaint with the NHTSA.
My thought is if there are enough of these complaints the government will force GM to act.
This is the first time ever for me.
I hope it doesn't happen again. If so, I will look at replacement to a forged wheel.

I don't know if you have the same wheels as I do, or what but when Discount Tire had to replace three of mine (they gouged them when removing the wheel weights) they bought them straight from the Chevy dealer for $660 each. $1000 a wheels seems excessive.

Lots of complaints filed. No action so far. Some threads even provided a link to the page you use to file.

You mean the government that bailed them out with billions of our money?

Sucks that happened though. I have c7z wheels on my car and so far have been pretty lucky, knock on wood. I also have pretty flat roads in my area at least for my purposes of having fun in the car so I'm hoping not having a lot of bumps and cracks in the road will alleviate some of the causes of these cracks in wheels.

Any recommendations?
When I bought my Z I was worried about this. I purchased a set of signature forged wheels. They’re pretty close to factory and extremely strong. Luckily my stock wheels never bent or cracked. I sold them and it was about a $2000 difference between old and new.

$1000 per wheel seemed more than a bit excessive.
$600 out of pocket seemed excessive.
The wheel was cracked and I felt as if they had me over a barrel.

Should be covered but will not be covered. If you paid $600 and it does not happen again for a long time you got off cheap.

"Fully forged" can be misleading. Don't buy anything other than monoblock forged wheels from a reputable manufacturer. It'll cost you close to $4K and up. Anything less is a poor substitute and you'll regret it. There are multiple threads on this regarding the GS and ZO6 OEM wheels, one with over a thousand postings.

Josh, just to confirm, are both of these monoblock forged?

Are you saying the wheel just cracked with no blunt force trauma like hitting a pot hole or a curb?

That's what they do from normal dips and small obstructions that don't bother other cars, not even the Stingrays - this is a GS and ZO6 problem. They usually get bent first and you'll feel a vibration that's hard to pin down. The wheel, now being slightly out of round, begins to stress the high spot on every revolution and in time cracks the inner barrel edge. It will then slowly migrate into the air chamber and then the slow leak starts. That's when most owners find out they have cracked rim(s) or when they put on new tires. Search the forum and find that 1000+ comments thread and you'll quickly see how widespread the problem is.

I spoke with Harlen Charles at Carlisle and he told me that the wheels on the new Vette are the same CAST wheels that are on the C7 ZO6s.!! Great move G.M. ! Putting shitty wheels on your new Vette! I have cracked 5 wheels already and now will buy a set of Forged wheels.
Thanks G,M, for a great car , however ,with shity wheels !!

Supposedly, Tadge has said the C8 wheels are still cast but they are made a little thicker in the barrel and edges but we don't know how truthful that is or if it will do any good. If not, the problem with start to show up in the C8 forum pages.
