Edit to add you would need a wide and and hptuners.
Yeah I understood, yeah I was just meaning my preference for physical tune. Remote tunes of course is an option, but then I need hptuners as well like you said.

The problem I find with remote tuning is that the street manners take awhile to nail down. Remote tunes tend to be able to get WOT runs within a reasonable range, but they leave you in a lurch for weird street issues. Good tuners will keep the car around for a few days and nail down a safe wot on the dyno, keep a good margin for variable weather and will get the street manners in to an almost emissions friendly setup if needed.

This one's free. Sounds much, much louder. Takes a couple of hours but cool to say you did it yourself. GL!

ARH catted mid length. No tune needed, added power ( which you are not necessarily looking for) & plenty of additional sound. I should add good & rich sound. If I remember this thread correctly you mentioned your friend already has the AEW X pipe & axel back. IMHO the ARH mids will make a symphony out of that great system.

Yes, I heard this in person with an AWE Touring axel back. Great tone & definitely louder than stock manifolds on the same system. Nice refined tone.
On my Z I have an Akra married to a Corsa XX, I toyed with the notion of the headers (ARH Mids) However, after recently driving behind my car …. It sounds soooo good & plenty loud ….. I don’t want to tweak it & be disappointed ( I’ve been known to modify toooooo far).

I'll pass that on, I'm hoping he goes with headers over the downpipe for selfish reasons so I can hear it.

I'm in same boat as you, I have the full Corsa system with extremes and I keep contemplating adding headers, mid or LT; some days I'm happy with how it is and then other days I hear another buddy with headers and it makes me change my mind.

I get that 100%. I do the same. For me, I know I wll love it when in "weekend mode" ... top out & screammmmming in second gear. My issue is when I'm just driving to work & Tour mode isnt enough but Track/Sport is too much. That conflict will drive me nuts. At the end of the day we all need to realize we are driving a race car on the street. I for one should be happy & satisfied with the many options I have. My prevouis builds have been black & white ( stiff riding, too loud w/ big cams & intermitant drivabilty) & I still managed daily driving type activities. This ZO7 is a such a transformable creature that I'm spoiled with the options.

I hear you and agree 100%. Probably should be happy with how it is, but then some days just think I should just mod it a little more. I do not know what it is about North American cars but I always want to modify them; never done it with my luxury or german cars, always content with how they are oem, but come to any of the "muscle or sports" cars I've owned they never stay stock. Not sure I'll ever be content with the Z but I am happy, maybe I just need to come to terms with it.

My buddy should still definitely do it so I can hear it though lol

I've got Kooks headers and no cats. I love it, but it is really loud. If he/you have to pass inspection/testing you don't have much more available than has already been given in this thread.

I have some new Corsa headers that mount to the oem mid-pipe or aftermarket x pipe. It's really the next option your buddy should pursue. I can recommend a couple tuners as well for your buddy.

That won't work for him as he has the AWE system.

The OP said he has the AWE x pipe plus axleback. The AWE x pipe mounts at the oem factory location, just like the corsa header. So, the Corsa header will work on this setup.
