I'm looking at a 19 Z06 and the dealer says it has the Z07 package on it, but it appears to have J56 brakes. My question is can a Z07 car have J56 brakes or did they come exclusively with J57 brakes.
The z07 package only came with carbon ceramic brakes (J57). Just for reference, you could get the J57 brakes as a stand alone option.
If a car being identified as a z07 pkg car has iron brakes, then someone swapped out the carbon brakes OR the seller is not correctly representing the vehicle.

If brakes were changed to iron rotors it could mean that previous owner tracked the car. Maybe no a deal breaker but something to consider.
Also dealer should give you a discount.
CCM rotors cost from $1700 to $1900 each. A number of people who tracked their Z07s swapped brakes to aftermarket brake systems or to aftermarket iron brake rotors as the cost of replacing the CCM rotors and pads are so costly. If the calipers aren't made by Brembo then the brake system is an aftermarket system. If they are Brembo with iron rotors the rotors could be GiroDiscs. Some people would also swap the brakes to the stock J56 system.
Either dealer is trying to mislead you, or it is legit and previous owner tracked the car a lot and made the switch. Either way I personally would not want that car.
OP: Take pictures of the front and rear brakes that show the caliper and the rotor. Post the pictures here. That way people can advise you better. A tracked car isn't necessarily something that should be avoided. A lot of tracked cars are much better maintained than Garage Queens. Owners pay a huge amount of money to track a car on a regular basis and it is truly a PIA if something fails on the car and prevents them from using the car as there are no refunds. Failures can also be fatal. So owners make sure the car is in tip-top condition all of the time. Wheel Bearings, alignment, wheel condition, steering and suspension parts and bolts are all inspected many times per year. Brakes are checked for leaks, pads are replaced, rotors are checked/replaced if needed, brake fluid is changed several times per year, etc. If stock seat belts are used they are checked for condition before each event. Fluid levels are always maintained at GM-recommended levels. Any engine and transmission issues that pop up are addressed and repaired as the last thing a person wants is to pay $750 fo $1000 for a track weekend, plus hotel, food and fuel and other expenses and have a part fail and put the car on a trailer or flatbed home at the beginning of an event.

I agree, they only had Carbon rotors.. I would really tend to agree that it was tracked, I know a lot of guys that swap for track so I would look that car over really good at that point
Can anyone say how long the Z07 rotors will last in a vehicle that hasn't been tracked? I am considering purchasing a Z06 and see examples with 10,000 to 15,000 miles. Should these vehicles be avoided since I have no intent of going to the track?

No, a Z06 with 10k or 15k miles carbon rotors if never tracked should last forever, ok, that's a stretch, let's say it this way; you should get easily 75k to a 100k miles from it under normal driving.

That is nothing on a never tracked car, they are meant to last forever.
They do have that pesky sensor failure though... I knew it wasn't real but it drove me crazy until dealer swapped a new one out.. damn they can do it fast

I have 54,000 miles on my Z07 and the rotors and pads are good
If it is truly a Z07 car, the option is much more expensive than the price for just the CCB's.
I considered it when I was ordering my Z06 but chose to forgo as there is not that much difference in stopping distance and my vert is a street car only. The Z07 package also requires the Stage 3 spoiler option and I seem to recall there was another required option but no longer remember. That pushes the actual price up to about $11,000. If it is a Z07, make sure all the extra spoiler parts are with the car as they are a required part of the package. Also I was not thrilled with the buckboard ride of the Z07 on my 2017 GS. I understand that the 2019 is better in that respect with the upgraded programming of the magnetic ride.
If you aren't tracking the car, the brakes will outlast your ownership of the car most likely. Read Bill Dearborns posts, he is one of the most knowledgeable people on this forum.
