Just a quick post to see what folks may have found as the best headers for their Z06. Also cost effectiveness is important but I don't want to buy something off EBay that will just cause more problems. Let me know what you've used and what it cost you.
Thanks, Mark (Scarlett-73)
ARH or Kooks, can't go wrong with either. I've never had an issue with the cats used by ARH. Kooks claims their green cats are better and stand up to high boost cars better. None of that matters unless you're pushing 800-900+ HP.
Personally I only use and recommend ARH to my clients.
Love my Kooks headers (catless) and I wouldn't use anything but those or ARH. The gain depends on the tune and what other mods you add at the same time. I fell for the TSP headers due to the price and had to have them removed due to all the racket they made (non-exhaust racket). My installer couldn't get them to stop chattering so we swapped them for Kooks. Problem solved immediately. You get what you pay for, don't cheap out on headers. Headers are a 6-8 hour install job plus a tune is required so all in you will be in the $4-5k range unless you do the install yourself. You may see 40-50 rwhp post-tune. 50+ if you have a CAI paired with it. LTs, CAI, and flexfuel sensor will net you around 85-100 rwhp depending on how much ethanol you can run with your stock fuel system.
Just bought the complete ARH set from Josh at Meraki Autoworks! Josh is a great guy and gave me the best price I have seen anywhere! I'll be having Corvette Center install them since it will require a tune to go along with my upgraded Pulley! Looking/hoping for 650 at the wheels!
This is a first,... The headers arrived today March 7th, I only ordered them Friday March 4th. Amazing! Great Job Josh! Cross country delivery over a weekend very very surprised. Kudos for Meraki Autoworks.
reconsidering that I should of just went with headers. I still might will just need to sell my current xpipe to coupe some funds.
I always liked long tube header I put them on my 01 ls1 ws6 and definitely added some performance and loved the sound difference.
but was sort of reluctant to go that much into the engine bay and then i know i needed to get o2 sensor stuff usually i think and then tune.
my only experience with kooks header was my cousin 94 z28 lt1 and I must say they were a pleasure to install versus other brands i used on other cars.

For others looking at this thread, I use Kooks 2" headers + Kooks green catted X-pipe with 815 RWHP and have had no problems for around a year now. Quieter unfortunately than the straight X-pipe, but much less smelly / environmentally egregious.
I went with corsa headers since I already had their x pipe. They look like they are very good quality. I have previously run kooks in other cars and they are great. I am installing the headers in the next week or so, but I don’t foresee any issues. Corsa has been one of the industry leaders in exhaust for a long time.
Okay so the Headers on on, the pulley upgrade is done, the Halltech CAI is in and the car is professionally tuned, 650 RWHP AND 626 ft/lbs of Torque. No internals changed, I do think that I'll have to keep an eye on the engine temp though. blow up of the text Full curve.
I live in Cali. I am going to port, polish, and ceramic coat my factory manifolds. I go Friday morning to do an initial dyno pull on my stock car. I will add the ported manifolds, x-pipe, and GM intake then pull again. Hoping for 30 rwhp.

Post your results, I'd love to see it. Its really surprising how you can get a lot more power out of the LT4 without touching the internals.
