Sorry for this but here goes. (yes- i have searched ad nauseum but can't quite find the info I'm looking for. probably left me more confused)
2016 Z06 with Z07 making 750 RWHP
This is a weekend cruiser that will never be on a road course. I'm a 1320 foot guy.
My priorities:
Needs to not be greasy/unpredictable at lower temps (50* mornings/evenings or early spring days)
Needs to be streetable (can't run DR's on the highway)
Needs to have great straight line traction. Stop light sort of hammer drops
Don't want to be bending rims
I think I'm down to Pilot Super Sports non run flat and R888R's. It looks like the Toyo's tread pattern is better suited for how I'll use the car, but can't really tell by looks. My concern on the Super Sports is their ability to provide straight line grip from 30-60 mph pulls and ability to provide any grip below 60 degrees. Looking for real world input on these two tires for my type of use.
PS-I don't really care about road noise or ride quality. Form follows function.
Thanks in advance for any and all info.
If you don't want DR about the only option you have left is R88's. I have them on my car with similar whp on an 18" wheel and can hook pretty well even when its cool out. As for the Super sports, they are not that great at straight line acceleration. Next set im going to get MT street SS, only did the r888 last year bc availability on tires.
Pilot Super Sports die off quickly and get hard. The R888R's are soft till the innards show. Not even the same kind of tire really after about 75% tread. Michelin is super-corporate
I had R888’s on my 600whp twin turbo mustang. They were great, used them in hot and cold weather. They lasted a long time too. And straight line traction was great.. Will they hold 750rwhp? I would like to know too since I want to replace my crappy NT05R’s with R888’s on my 700+rwhp C6 GS.
