Default Meth over sprayed, possible hurt engine?

I topped off my meth tank the other day at the track. Did a full run, went fine, I turn the corner and car starts to sputter real bad. Then it started to accelerate on its own and wouldn’t turn off, finally it did. After 5 mins car drove fine. It emptied out the full windshield meth tank into my motor. Anyone want to rip the bandaid and tell me my motor is toast? Seems to idle fine, and rev fine but I’m taking into the shop Friday. I’m hoping this didn’t hurt a piston.

As long as it burned out you are fine. It is better to have injected more meth than more nitrous. Too much meth will cool the flame, while to much nitrous will burn like a torch. You can get corrosion if it puddled in the engine for a while...but it sounds like you cleared it out after the run. The only other concern would be hydro lock, but since it never stopped running, that is not likely. On the good side, you should have really clean cylinders now!

If it were mine I wouldn't sweat it. At most, have them run a compression check to ensure the rings are still sealing well.

I'd check the spark plugs for peace of mind as well.

Just change the oil. You just washed the cylinder walls down. Long term this would be a problem but if all you did was empty the WW fluid tank no big deal.

Several times I have made a full pass with a ethanol fueled motor RED where the bypass failed and the car was pouring aa flume of alcohol out the header pipes. The car ran like crap but it really didn't hurt anything. The oil, on the the hand, was a real mess.

A good example is when top fuel or alcohol dragsters lose spark in a cylinder. Lots of alcohol or nitro methane in the air but no real damage in the cylinder running with no combustion.

Thank you all, i believe it happened right after my run, it’s sprayed it all at idle and the car was close to red line for around 30s before it let me turn the car off. Went straight to the trailer. Turned it on to unload at home and that’s it. Tomorrow I trailer it to check the meth system, and do full service including spark plug change at the shop that made it, along with compression test

That’s a weird situation you had. Usually doesn’t stick open 🤔

if I had to guess after my car got tuned I noticed it was off. Not much just idle. Come to find the maf was dirty. Had some oil from the new cold air intake. If the meth kit has anything to do with the maf I’d say the tuning has been off this whole time and maybe it thought car was accelerated or staying accelerated after the run. And kept spraying till empty lol 🥲

You might consider adding methanol fuel additive if you do not empty the methanol tank after every outing. Most everyone who runs methanol in dreg racing who does not have to pass a NHRA fuel check does. Since one bottle does a 55 gallon drum one bottle may last you a lifetime and then some. The additive provides some lubrication to the methanol path and also stops the jelling and crystal formation methanol is famous for.
