I was at Road America today and my carbon ceramic brakes wouldn’t last longer than 10 minutes. After the first episode I found a quiet road and did the 50-60 hard stops from 60 (made me ill in the process). Next session same issue. All 4 sessions I didn’t make it 10 minutes. The pads look white so thought they were burnished.
Has this happened to others? Solutions?
Car is a 2017 with 10,000 miles. Car is new to me and this was my first track outing.
Describe the problem you experienced. Saying they didn't last 10 minutes doesn't mean much. My CCM brakes and the CCM brakes in many cars I have ridden in as an instructor do very well for 20 minutes on track with no indication of a fall off in performance. The only issue I have seen with the brakes is the cost of replacement parts due to the rotors not lasting any longer than aftermarket iron racing rotors. At Quadruple the replacement cost of iron aftermarket rotors the CCMs just aren't cost-effective.
I pushed the brakes to the floor and it barely made a difference. Brake fluid was just changed to motul 600
That sounds like there is air in the lines and that isn't the fault of the brakes. Just because the fluid was changed doesn't mean it was changed correctly. Bleed the system again and make sure the ABS Automated Bleed is performed to make sure air that might be captured in the ABS module is able to get by the module's valves.
