I own a 2019 Z06 with Z07 package. When I start the car first thing in the morning, the exhaust sound is like the car is in track mode but I have the engine setting on stealth mode. The engine runs at this level for a minute or so and then tones down to a quiet mode. Is there any way to program the engine to start in quiet mode from the get go? Thanks.
I have a 2017. Mine starts in whatever mode it was in when shut down. If it wasn't making a racket when shut off it won't make a racket when started. Possibly they changed the software default in later years.
To check shut if off in track mode and then try it in something like tour. Unless you changed the default settings for exhaust, track should be loud and tour should be quiet.
Keep in mind that on cold starts, spark is retarded by a bunch to get the cats to light-off ASAP. That makes the exhaust really loud even if the bypass valves are closed. If you can log data, look at your spark at engine start and you'll see it way retarded and as the ECM begins to advance the spark, the exhaust gets quieter.
The so-called "stealth mode" does not disable the retarded spark on cold starts.
I have a 2019. As noted above, starts in whatever mode it was shut down in. Regardless, you do get a cold start “bark” no matter what mode you’re in but cold starting in stealth is noticeably quieter than cold starting in track and my neighbors are thankful when I remember to put it back in stealth before shutting it off. 😁
Cat lightoff mode is what makes the exhaust louder on cold start even if you have the NPP valves closed. HP Tuners removed the ability to disable this feature in their current releases. Probably because the EPA is going after anyone who tries to defeat emissions.
