2017 Z06 auto. Has the stock 3/4 side skirts (non Z07). I have now damaged both side skirts. Passenger side scraped the bottom edge over about one foot when backing out of the driveway and getting to far over, where the driveway tapers up to the sidewalk. Just kissed the edge but did not crack the fiberglass. Happened couple of years ago. Fast forward to a couple weeks ago. Again, backing out of my driveway, I dragged the drivers side hard enough to crack the fiberglass. This one is much more visible. Now I need to decide what to do. Replacing with original side skirts is $$$$. Repairing the fiberglass DIY but still need to paint carbon flash. There is a third option - buy aftermarket Z07 side skirts from Extreme On Line, remove the stock ones, and install the aftermarket ones.
I am leaning toward the third option. For those with experience removing stock side skirts and installing aftermarket ones, is this a relatively straightforward project? Are there any issues need to be aware of? How do you like the looks of the aftermarket skirts? I would plan to repair the stock ones as time permits.

installed aftermarket carbon fiber on mine.mine came with none.used extreme 2 way red tape and stock screw holes front and rear.been on for 20k miles no problems,no drilling into my car.my car is auto and tranny cooling lines run through the rockers.you hit one of them and your screwed. This is why I use ramps getting in and out of my driveway, yes it takes a few more minutes, but saves me the headaches. There are a couple vendors that you might consider, there products are great, ACS Composite and Topflight Automotive. Good luck!
If your car came with the 3/4 side skirts, do the aftermarket side skirts match up with the rivet points for the stock 3/4 skirts? If so, only need to drill out the rivets and install new rivets for the aftermarket skirt. Is that the case? My car already had the rivet holes drilled at the factory.
You may want to do something other than carbon fiber if you are prone to cracking them. CF can't be easily repaired unless you paint them afterward...in which case your are better off just fixing what you have. Another option is what my car came with...original with cheapo, black plastic. Not as good looking as the CF I switched to, but they were near indestructible.
