Default Coolant temp sensor

Anyone have a pic of the location of the coolant temp sensor on our cars? I have scoured the internet and getting mixed signals between being under the supercharger pulley, to being on left side of water pump. Thanks!

The GM dealer parts guys usually have the exploded drawings straight from the manufacturer.

Yes that is it.
Different location than on the LT1/Stingray.

If you are troubleshooting a temperature control/fan issue be prepared to change the thermostat as well.
My experience is about a 50% success rate getting it right the first time. Symptoms and code are often the same.

Good luck.

From experience it's a mother fk'er to get too. Need to remove intake and throttle body and be prepared to turn the wrench at 1/8" incriments at a time to remove sensor. Part is cheap. Found on Amazon for less than 20 dollars. LOL.

Yes, it was. Was able to move some things around and get a ratcheting wrench in there and it wasn't so bad. I love engineers.

Yep, thank you. After a little more research (and a call to a buddy that's a tech at a dealership in TX) I was able to procure this bad boy.

Thanks for the help everyone.

That's the really odd thing, I never got a code of any kind, ever. I would hear the fans come on while I was driving and my AC would stop working and blow warm air. No codes. I shut the car off one day and was away from it for 30 minutes, came back and they were still on. I would have to pop the negative cable off the battery to shut it off, and then it would work fine.

I guess I will find out if that was it next time I drive it. The weather was crappy this morning here so maybe tomorrow.

Oh, and no coolant at all came out. I guess its the position (yes my tank is full...lol)

If the engine cooling fan runs continuously and there are no codes present it could be an issue with Module K22 the cooling fan control module.

I'm hoping against this one. Do you think it would be happening more often if it was?

when I changed mine, coolant came out. My issue was I put a 160 thermostat in, and initial tune didn’t get updated for that. Active rev match shut down, a/c wouldn’t work and fans would continue to run until I pulled negative cable. It only did it when the ambient temperature was cooler outside. The car didn’t “think” it was heating up as fast as it should with my other cooling mods, and would put it into some sort of limp mode.
