I'm now considering the GM "Jake" intake with the BMS filter inside of it. Anyone running this combo?

Thanks!

If you go with Jake there is no need to swap filter. Already has a great filter installed. I run the Jake and the Weapon X Carbon Fiber intake Tube + TB

I would run the BMS filter since the Jake intake on its own really does not do much.

Gives as much as any other box truthfully. Seen actual testing data and Jake Filter flows same as BMS. 11-15hp is a realistic range for anything you just slap on with no tuning on an LT4. GM unit It is a well designed box. Most of the claims you see from all the boxes are hype, surprisingly, GM actually does not make outrageous claims like 50-100hp. They are realistic. Obviously with mods like mine and tunes you can get more, but it's in conjunction with other mods. At end of the day go for the one you think looks the best.. they are all similar. I know Corsa started making "pretty" carbon fiber CAI units.. they look cool

Personally I hate the cotton filters. They let in more air at the expense of particulate. I don't remember the source (Project Farm i believe) showed they let in something like 5% whereas any paper filter will allow .1-1%. And you have to clean them all the time.

I go BMS and change it every couple of years with the jake intake. I looked at weapon x tube but if the tube itself is wider but not the inlet or exit it's not actually doing anything but creating 2 choke points with turbulent air inbetween.

I looked up the GM filter for the jake intake and it was $80+ or so. BMS is $100 so i'll stick with them.

Think it's pretty proven the GM intake is really for looks over the stock box especially when not tuned

I would try the BMS filter first. You'll be shocked how much the throttle response is improved. Then I would get a ported throttle body to smooth it out.

In my opinion, the stock intake is just fine.

I thought I read that bms did a comparrison between stock and jakes intakes and the stock one produced more power??

I just got my bms filter last week, with ported DIY TB. The air/fuel ratio evens out no more black soot on exhaust tips anymore. There is a nice power increase and throttle response.

Thank you! This is exactly what I was thinking. My exhaust tips are getting black soot in them and maybe the intake will lean out the a/f mixture a little as well.

I think in the comparison the one that made more power was a "wet" filter not a dry one. I personally do not want to run a wet filter. In my mind to really take advantage from some type of CAI you would need to find a way to pull more air from the front of the car and not litte hole in fender. I think there is a mod, but it wasn't a street friendly thing to do. Cooling air with meth can work as well

Thanks!
Yes- I am running that combo with a Soler TB.
I've run both the standard BMS filter and the Jake with BMS filter. What the internet says is true- they are almost identical. I wanted the Jake simply for the looks.
