Vibration!
Hey guys, after a year of ownership of my C7Z06 i've been fighting a weird random noise/vibration. It seemed to be at cold start only, and would go away after I drove the car or gave the car some gas. I've read about all kinds of issues with actuators and exhuast shields. Today I decided to use the remote start and investigate the exhaust as the noise always came from the rear of the car. As I pushed and touched various items on the car, I noticed no change. In frustration I put my hands on my head. That caused a "cupping" around my ears. Then I realized, the sound was different. It seemed to be higher, not in frequency, but in location. I reached my hand above as far as I could, perhaps reaching to the stars themselves for help. As I reached above, I touched the aluminum garage door....and the noise vanished. My beloved Z06 had been pounding so hard at idle, that it had been resonating the garage door. My excitment grew...but the realization that my stupidity has grew too fell apon me. The problem is solved without need for a visit to the dealer. It's a victory, but I feel stupid. Watch for that natural frequency fellow vette owners.
