Default C7 Z06 tires

I need to replace the tires on my 2016 C7 Z06. Any recommendations? I wouldn't mind a smoother ride than the factory tires, but don't want to change the appearance of the car too much. Thanks!!

So assuming your "factory" tires are Cup 2 ZP (Run Flats), there's three main option imho with pro's and cons vs Cup 2's based on reading reviews:

1) Michelin Pilot Super Sports ZP (Run Flats)
- less grippy in warm dry conditions than Cup 2's
- better at colder temps and in wet conditions
- longer tire life (300 vs 240 treadwear rating)
2) Continental Extreme Contact Sport 02 - These are non run flats so that's decision point for you?
- quieter and much improved ride vs run flats.
- less grippy in warm dry conditions than Cup 2's and probably slightly less grip than MPSS
- better at colder temps and in wet conditions, probably better grip in wet vs MPSS
- longer tire life (340 vs 240 treadwear rating)
3) Michelin Pilot Sport 4S - These are non run flats so that's decision point for you?
- They do not come in the exact OEM size for the rear, they only go upto 325 tire width
- quieter and much improved ride vs run flats, though the Continentals are know to have better comfort ratings
- These tires are a newer design vs MPSS and will offer similar but overall slightly better performance than MPSS. The only area I see the MPSS getting better reviews is in regards to steering / driver feedback.
All three tires are good, just depends on what your priorities are?

Let us know where you live. If you drive in cold temps, that needs to be considered. I’ve read several of these threads. My take away is the all season tires are more forgiving in cold weather, but not as “grippy”. Everything’s a compromise. My take away is that I’ll stick with the OEM compromise with item 1 above which is the original Michelin SS. (Not Cup2 tires ).

You can also use Michelin Pilot Sport 4S ZP which are all season run flats and are available in the correct sizes. These are my choice for normal driving, for temperature issues and rain. I use Super Sports or Cup 2's on the track.

Thanks... great information. The vehicle is in New Hampshire, but I take it out in May and lay her down in October. So not a lot of cold weather driving at all.

MP4S one of the best all around wet/dry tire. R888R or NT555R2 best dry grip tires that still corner well. Drawback with these two is poor/borderline dangerous wet traction.

I ran the Super Sport runflats for 5 years on my 2019. I would track my car with hoosiers but I don't track my car anymore. The SS were stiff and harsh but they were fun because I always felt in good control of the car. They were easy to read and they were predictable with great handling in warm weather. They were very sketchy in 30 degree temps or less but I never had severe issues in the rain. I had 2 cracked rims with those tires not sure if related to running them in cold temps. Now I have the continental extreme contact for the past 2 months as they were on a 2016 I purchased. The ride quality is much better as far as comfort and I like that. But I still miss the SS runflats for the above reasons as well as I liked the looks of the SS better. I run my car hard and subjectively I am still getting used to the lack of stiffness with the continentals and I feel less in control with hard cornering. But the ride is so much nicer. I also miss the sense of security I had with the runflat. I considered the Pilot Sport all-season ZP runflat but in the end I'll probably go back to the Super Sport ZP runflats eventually. Just my experiences so far...

For me, Continental is better than Mich. That's what I'm changing to, purely on the wear. They wear better than Mich.. And I'd have dedicated tires for summer/dry (Hoos, etc.).

Same here, I used to have Conti Extremes on my GT500 that I used to have and they flat out sticked. Ride was so much better also.

Good information here.
If I switch to non run flats, what should I have with me in case of a puncture?
I'm still on factory rims and we all know they will eventually crack.

Apologies to OP, not trying to hijack this thread.

Keep in mind the Continental has a bit of a rounded shoulder and narrower tread than the Michelins, making them "look" skinnier.

Yeah good point that I should have mentioned, as well as looking skinner there's less protection of your rims vs say MPSS.

Michelin AS4, quietens the ride as well softer the ride with no loss of traction.

You can’t add all season capability without giving up some traction. Good enough traction for many? Sure. But as4’s definitely give up something to gain colder weather ability
