Strange question i suppose but here goes. I ordered a set of forged wheels 19x10 and 19x12.5 for my Z. They came in surprisingly early and I rushed to open them up and the 1st outer box I open leads me to an inner box clearly stamped 20x12. I stop, check my order form and contact vendor. He says they probably used wrong box and asked if I opened it. I had not and proceeded to do so. I couldn't find the stamp with the wheel size so I got out a tape measure and across the wheel measures 20.5. I contact vendor again and says it should be stamped on the spokes on the inside. Look again and down in the depressions between the lug openings I found it, 19x12.5. So I asked about why they measure 20.5 and the 19x12s i have on the car now measure a little over 19. His answer is the lip size of the wheel and guarantees me that it is a 19 and 19" tires are gonna fit. Granted the ones on her now are cheaper fake forged Flow One wheels and it may have smaller lip on them but that seems a lot bigger to me and my old brain. Ok finally the question haha
Is what he is telling me accurate? That some 19" rims will be that much bigger because they are true forged and have a larger lip? Am I freaking out over nothing? I am ready to box them up and send them back. F their no return policy on custom wheels haha Any help/advice is appreciated
Did you just compare the diameter to the front 19 x 10 wheels you also just received.
I had not at the time I posted this. My frustration combined with the sleet and freezing rain caused me to ignore it the rest of the evening lol After a good nights sleep I did go out and measure the fronts and they are the same. Now I can relax and get me some tires. If only they had not sent them in boxes marked 20x12, i could have saved some grey in my beard for more serious issues
The 19" should be the bead set diameter. I have come across a few sets of wheels where the face diameter is larger that their stated diameter but the tire mates to the bead surface just fine.
