160 mph down the straight - a full 10 mph faster than the other videos we've seen at Willow with Car & Driver, and Motor Trend.

Very little intervention even in Sport 1.

Good driving & an impressive chassis/electronics integration package.

160 down the front straight is impressive. The rest of the lap not so much. Would be nice to see a lap driven by someone either more familiar with the track or willing to push a little bit in the corners. That car should easily be doing a lazy 1:23, not 1:27.

I've been on willow a number of times, and it's a FAST track, not very forgiving either...

That second lap at 1:27 on a stock car is VERY impressive, and while everyone is entitled to their opinion, to say otherwise, is just hating, in my opinion...

Hating? No. I track there regularly and am very familiar with both the track and track times. Documented stock times: Z06 1:25; Grand Sport 1:26; Camaro ZL1 1:26; 911 S 1:27. So no, a 1:27 is not remotely impressive. That guy was putting around the corners and making his time on the straights.

You're quoting #s from professional drivers in optimal conditions, and my comment was said in a general sense, you are the one who actually stepped up to defend...

Additionally, and again, this is my opinion, getting down to 1:23 on this track, would not be a Lazy drive in a factory car...

I certainly agree that this driver could go faster if he was alone in the car and completely focused on the track.

Lastly, not looking for a drawn out internet battle, no joy in that for me...

The lap is impressive for having a passenger, on a new car of this caliber, while talking.

Curios, what's you best time there? Most people here could not do 1:27 in a ZR1 if they tried an entire lifetime.

1:28 and I’m just a DE guy. Supercharged 2011 E90 M3, JRZ and aero.

We can't be seriously having this conversation about this being a good lap time! GM is just giving journalist a ride a long. A factory effort time will come with ONE person driving, no passenger and the Z will sound like it is about to slaughter NK. Cmon fellas.

Great, so you've never run as fast as this guy did in a stock car and while being, by your own reckoning, "very familiar with the track."

I wonder how many laps before over-heating. If GM can't keep 650hp cool, why would we thing they could keep 750hp cool?

Because they hang with the ZL1 boys.

Maybe if someone wasn't asking him questions all of the way around, he might have been able to put down even more impressive numbers!

Because it has much larger grille openings, 1-2 more auxiliary radiators, 2 more heat exchangers, larger intercooler bricks, and a slower spinning SC than the Z06.

Manual Z06s do just fine with the fairly small auxiliary radiator. I think this setup will be more than enough.

The speed on the straights is phenomenal. What a car.

No Doubt, that thing was flying! Hitting darn near 160 on the front straight, and over 140 on the back...

160 is insane on the front straight. And it's so composed and fast on that last sweeper just before it.
