Allocations
Since dealerships know how many allocations they are receiving, for those that are on a list has everyone been contacted by their salesmen? Also if you were say #3 on a list with a dealership with 6 allocations, what would be your guess when your allocation comes up? Thanks

Thats the million $ question really. To my knowledge GM will begin picking up orders on Jan 25 2018, but its anyone's guess when dealers will get their specific allocations for each week's DOSP.

If they are going to start playing these kind of games, I am not going to get involved. I also wanted to do the engine build experience with it, like I did with the 2012 one I have, but if they start rationing them, count me out.

Orders will only be picked up, when first GM has given them a specific allocation(s) for a specific consensus to a specific dealer. Getting an order in now with a dealer, while it might result in a status 1100 entry into GM computer system, means nothing as far as increasing chances for it later to be picked up, nor getting a limited-availability-options “reserved” for it.
When GM finally says, for example, dealer X you have two allocations this January 25th DOSP, that dealer gets to designate their order priority # 1 and their order priority # 2. Then GM, takes all the collective orders from the system and accepts them.
When the C7 Z06 was first specific consensus available, MacMulkin’s rep called and said, I have one visible carbon fiber aero package available, and as you are # 1 on my priority list, do you want it? We went over every single option I wanted, and it became formally GM accepted, 3000 status three days later.

How often are allocation released during the entire 18 month run? Are they given out every quarter or what?

My dealer called today and he has 6 Allocations based on Z06 sales. I currently show as number 3 on their list Order VTNX2G Sitting at 1100 which means nothing of course at the moment.

OK, my dealer said he had 1 allocation, but I was not clear for what time period that was or if that was total for the whole run, I forgot to ask him, maybe I should.

Right now, mine does not know when their allocations will be honored thru the coming year. I guess it could take them a year to get all 6 ordered but I'm guessing

Not a single dealership, not even the number’s 1-3, yet know when they are getting their individual-consensus allocations. Those three are surmising, based on past history, that they will get 1 or more the very first consensus (Jan. 25th), but GM has not told even them that yet. GM has however committed to them in writing, that they will learn the first part of that individual ZR1 consensus information in January.
They too will be getting their allocations spread out over months, and again, they do not know how that timing will occur. With a maximum of 200 being produced per month, and Kai is even on record in his radio interview last month talking about “less than 200 per month,” this is going to a long and slow time until the last of the 2019 ZR’1 are built. The allocations that dealer’s got about 10 days ago, were their total allocation over the entire March 1 through March, 2019 entire production period. And with some going offshore, some going to Canada, and the limited monthly production schedule, there are probably only going to be 3,100 total ZR1, 2019 allocations within the U.S.
Patience is tough (I wait 579 days between my C7 Z06 deposit and its arrival), but that is what is going to be needed regardless of which dealer you are going through.. Even those who are # 1 are a top five dealer are, sorry about this, not going to get their ZR1’s for literally 4 months.

Thank you! That is a great explanation and also great news, as I am very patient and not in any kind of hurry about it all. It will take many months probably, until the engine build option is available too, and that is my critical option. This also gives you time to decide on whether you really want the ZR1, or the much cheaper but still nice Z06. So, I am just going to sit back, relax, and enjoy driving my '12 ZR1 and my old Z06s.

I thought the number of allocations given to dealers last week was for production March-July 2018? Did we get some new information confirming those numbers were for the entire 2019 model year?

I thought the current allocations were just the first allocations but not all of the allocations for the 2019 production.

GM has just issued to its dealers (those that are getting 1 or more 2019 ZR1 allocations), a clarifying notice the ZR1 allocations dealers received on December 8th, “covers production March 2018 through “approximately” March, 2019. (In that communication, GM uses the world “approximately” in front of March, 2019.)
Sorry, but the allocations dealers received on December 8th are for the 13 month ZR1 production period. Yet, in that communication, GM does note that allocations are based on estimated production levels, that those levels could be subject to change, and that GM reserves the right to the change the current estimated production level.
