Track records will fall with the ZR1

Speculation is 772. Ford only said, 700+. Supercharged 5.2 In comparison, my '14 GT500 had 748rwhp (850ish crank)from the 5.8 with a pulley, off-road X and tune. 772 at crank from a 5.2 is going to be pushing it longevity wise. The 32v DOHC engines make so much more power for the size. If our 6.2was 32v DOHC, probably be 600 crank NA, 850 crank supercharged. That's only thing Ford does better than Chevy still. Ditch the pushrods already.

Heck yea I totally agree!!
Yesterday, in the Ask Tadge section, Jim Mero responded to the Question of the Week. In it he mentioned that with the new calibration setting upgrade the ZO6/Z07 did a 2:39.77 at the VIR Grand Course. That breaks the Viper ACR record driven by Chris Winkler. Prior to that, Mero had the VIR record at 2:41.32 then the new Viper ACR broke that with a 2:40.02. Now Tadge has said that this new ZR1 is 2.5 seconds faster than Mero's time of 2:41.32 = 2:38.82. WOW !!! Faster than the ACR by 1.2 seconds. This ZR1 is going to kill the Laguna Seca record held by the ACR.

Clearly I am doing this youtube thing wrong.

I am a youtuber and I made a video on the ZR1 and I was so happy to hear how well the ZR1 performed on the VIR track because I have been on that track before. I created a YouTube video on being on that track. My channel name is Cgarnerspeed252 please feel free to check it out and subscribe.

King ZR1 posted a jaw-dropping 2.37.3 time — over a second under the 2.38.6 lap record announced by Ford just last week.
Ford’s GT time, in turn, had bested the Dodge Viper ACR’s 2.40.0 time — one of 13 American race track lap records the Snake set in 2015 before the car was retired from production last year.
Chevy also announced this week that Mero lowered the Z06’s VIR best with a 2:39.77 lap.

Skank talked to Milner at Mazda. Milner said, "Any of the C7R drivers are faster than Mero"!
They now have significant down force - more like they're used to!
No excuses so maybe they'll get it on!
BUT lets calculate that for Giggles:
1:53.5/X = 1:57.03/7:01.3
X=6:48.6; beats Performante

I recall his speaking of The Nurburgring directly then!
Also, you might want to recalculate that with the ZR1's actual time on the Grand now! But, within 10s of the GT2 RS's time still works for me without a Callaway -200lb ZR1!
;
2:37.25(157.25s)/X = 2:40.02(160.02s)/7:01.3(421.3s)
X=6:54

I'm not a big fan of all the ring time speculation but the difference in ZR1 speeds on the straights at VIR over the Z06 was telling. There will be a lot of time made up in the high speed sections.

Good thought!
Oh well, maybe that GM/Callaway ZR1!

On a wide open track like the Ring where horsepower and downforce are the name of the game, the ZR1 should acquit itself well. I'm still thinking it will eke out a sub-7min time.

Probably!
Agreed, the ZR1 was accelerating through 150mph like a freight train where the Z06 was clearly starting to hit a wall. Not only that, but its speed through and exiting the Esses was a good 5-6mph faster than the Z06.

If they do indeed run they will probably play it safe checking up on the throttle (Tadge's stated 7' Goal).

The Ferrari 599XX weighs about the same the as the ZR1 and turned a sub 7 lap. Granted, it makes more downforce than the ZR1 and probably runs more aggressive tires but, it has been done.

Doing the math
From the vir zr1 time vs the pre-updating calibration z06 (15 z06 vir time), the zr1 gains 1 second every 40 seconds. So that's about 11 seconds or almost 11 seconds over the ring. Rumour was z06 got under 7:10 at the Ring with Mero so zr1 should be some seconds below 7.
