Do people actually believe buying then not driving a Vette makes it go up it value?

I have noticed the amount of mileage on a used car is not as critical to its resale value as I originally thought.
I find it a bit amazing, but there ya go...

Well "believing" on the C6 ZR1 may be profitable for some folks..

$158284 (today's euro exchange) with 517 miles..
I am pretty sure this car will walk out for 135K ish..
Just saying...

There are quite a few that do this! Just last week I saw a 60th Anniversary 2013 427 Convertible that listed new for over $93K with only a little over 800 miles on it. The owner sold it outright to a local dealership for around $50k! It cost the owner over $40k to sit around in a garage for 5 years!

He should have just bought a life size model of a car to stare at for a few years. That's some expensive wall art.

Bottom line is these are depreciating Assets, look up the C4 ZR1, its not all that sought after anymore

If you TRULY believe this give me a week and I'll have 1 or more to sell to you for $54K... back your word I'll back mine and I'll make some money! Well... maybe it'd take more than a week...

If you find a ZR1 for $50K my guess is it has been through several owners and there will be some issues with the car. Now find me a 2013 ZR1 with less than 5K miles that has no issues and I will by it from you for $56K promptly and you can make $4K to $6K. The only problem you may run into is that there were only 482 13 ZR1's made and I own one of them. I will concede that buying a ZR1 new as an investment is certainly a long term quest but one of these days they are going bring a large number. In fact I think that the value of C6 ZR1's will likely increase a small percentage once the C7 is released. It will add to the pedigree.

Problem with that car is it is a new car without a new car warranty. The used car dealer warranty is basically useless on a car like that. New cars are more likely to fail due to infant mortality issues, cars that aren't driven for long periods of time have issues due to not being driven and this car has sat around for close to 10 years. Are there any factory updates that haven't been applied, any recalls, has the oil been changed once per year, the coolant is good for only 5 years so after 10 years should have been changed twice, clutch fluid, AC seals and charge, dry rot of other seals, gaskets, weather strip, compression of weather strip due to doors being closed all the time, etc, etc, etc.
A well used car with 50K miles on it would be a better choice and less likely to have a problem since the infant mortality bugs will have been worked out. The potential for this car to be a turd is high. Maybe in 20 more years the collector market might value a low mile car like this but that is a long time to hold your breath hoping the price goes up.

I bought my minty 1993 Cobra with 2,200 miles on it for $19,000. Sold it 5 years later for $27,500. It wasn't even for sale. Someone contacted me and wanted to buy it. Those cars are still going up in value. Anything is possible.

There are few current vehicles that have actually appreciated in the last 30 years, GNX, Z8, GT, 911R, 993 turbo, F Ferraris, Mk IV Supras, last gen RX7 and a handful of others, it may seem like a lot but consider all the cars produced in the last 30 years and it's merely a drop in the bucket.

The GT is the outlier.
No other modern American car can make such a claim.

Amen to that.
The Mustang Crowd believe the same about their "special editions," etc.
IMO, the King Daddy is the 2004-6 Ford GT.
I don't know what they are now, but they got above $500k at one point.
Completely insane how much it appreciated, needless to say that's Supply & Demand for ya.

This is why Corvettes just are not "special" as too many are built. They are not exclusive.

The dealers have this little book that usually gives them a guide to how much they will allow/sell a car for. ANY CAR. If there are a lot of a certain Corvette models mileage might help. Just look at the past Corvette models that are worth a lot of money. Keith Martin's SPORT CAR MARKET has information on the latest auctions and info on every car sold at the auctions. Check it out if you want to see how much some Corvettes go for. Takes a long time for a CORVETTE to appreciate

During the last year of production, the car could be purchased for MSRP fairly easily.
I would have bought one if it didn't have a Mustang engine in it.
For some reason, after production stopped, the demand went thru the roof.
Maybe the economy got better...I don't recall.

I just saw this listing for a 2009 zr1 with 22 miles on it for sale. I have to wonder why on earth did the owner not enjoy his beautiful ride. I just paid $77k for a brand new 2lz zo6 auto so I’m wondering who will pay that much for a 9 year old car? What could the prior owner possible be thinking by not driving and enjoying his beautiful ride for the last 9 years? Thoughts?

Just like all of ours
Just like the new ZR1
For that matter
No Car will be worth anything close to what the person pays
Just my nickel

if part of a collection? no problem with it.if it's their only toy car? then i pity the owner for not enjoying it as once the car was driven a few times he/she would have fallen in love with driving it.. big deal you lose 10 15k. money can't replace memories. especially for those peanuts... but to each their own. i enjoy mine to the tune of 3300 miles in the first year and plan on more once the weather breaks.. nobody knows when the reaper comes knocking, that's how i ended up with my current and first newly purchased vette. watched too many in their late 30's and early 40's go in a year and said to hell with waiting for 55 when i retire..

I work as a Sales Manager for one of the world's largest Lexus dealers and last week a customer traded in a 2008 z06 with 12k miles on it. I gave him $31k for the car. If this customer had as much as 35k miles on it I would have still given him around $27k.
In my opinion he could have enjoyed his car a lot more and only lost $5k more so why treat your Corvette as a garage queen instead of enjoying it if you will lose money ANYWAY.
Another thing I can assure you of is that minor scuffs, scratches, wear on leather will NEVER affect how much money me or any other dealer will put on a car. Now if the car has frame damage, accident history on the carfax or engine, tranny or AC problems then thats a different story. Way too many people here are **** about keeping their car in show room condition but dont realize 10 years down the road your car is worth about the same as one with more miles, scuffs, scratches and beat up leather so why not enjoy your car today.

The McLaren F1 came out in the early 1990's for a million dollars; they now bring 8-10 million. (64 road versions built.)
