Personally, if I had an extra 50K of disposable toy money, then I would be looking at a different car entirely.

I'm not so sure about waiting
Guys, they shortened the 2018 year and are gearing up the factory for a change...I strongly believe that the C8 is around the corner and these C7 ZR1's might not be available after this year.

I disagree, the amount of testing they put in for the areo on this was as much or more for a whole new car. They wouldn't spend that much time and money on a car they only plan to produce for one year. There is very much a possibility they make the C7 ZR1 along with the base C8 but it's definitely not a one and done model year production. As for getting the car below msrp, wait until this fall, they will be had for below msrp. This crap happens with every new hot sports car, regardless of the manufacture. The same thing was said about the McLaren 720s and the Lamborghini Performante over the summer, and those are 300K + cars. Now you can walk into any dealer and buy one off the floor or order one. If GM gets and order for 5000 cars tomorrow, they will make all 5000.

While there are still some ZR1’s available (dealer allocations not yet sold), there is an interesting issue with more than a few forum dealers have way more (some more than double) customers on their internal priority ZR1 purchase lists than they have been told will be their specific ZR1 allocations through March, 2019.
And with ZR1 production being less than 200/month, and some going offshore and to Canada, that means that there will only be approx 2,500 ZR1’s available within the U.S. through the end of March, 2019.
If at that time, not all the demand has been met, and/or to make more profit why would GM not continue ZR1 production for future years? I personally believe they will, not just for the 2020 MY but also for 2021.
And make them along side the 2020+ ME’s.

Okay I see your point but for me the problem is I have a trade. If I wait till the fall my car will have a lower trade in value than prior to the summer. The few thousand they might take off on a ZR1 later might only counter balance the lesser amount I'll get for my car.

True that over time, GM will make as many ZR1’s as demand requires, but in the shorter run, due to the visible carbon fiber supplier quality constraints, GM is limited in how many ZR1’s can make per month.
Unlike the Z06 where they were able to take CF splitter or skirt with a small, non-structural but top-layer-visible bubble OR having a crooked carbon fiber weave in the top layer, with GM then rejecting it for the $3,995 CFV package, telling the supplier to paint carbon flash black over it and then selling it for the lesser cost $2,995 CFZ aero package, all the carbon fiber on the ZR1’s for front splitter, hood, and the rear wings is visible, and thus when they is a visual blemish, that supplier part is GM rejected outright.
The reason why GM is producing “less than 200 ZR1’s” per month is supplier CF quality constraint — not GM’s willingness to make more ZR1’s in the short run. In the end, all who wish a ZR1 will easily be able to get one.
However, those who are predicting ZR1 discounting starting fairly soon, are not going to be proven to be later accurate. Later accurate? Yes.

GM spent a nice chunk of change redesigning the front end, validating the LT5, and testing the car. The ZR1 will not be limited production nor will they sell it for one model year. GM is interested in one thing only and that's making $$$$ by selling cars.

Assembly lines cost money!
If the C7 sales catch on fire over last year!?
Hopefully, the transaxle like ZR1 will absolutely blow the Sports Car worlds big money cars out of the water. IE The 488 hasn't been stupendously fast, and stable! Going there!? They may hold off! Their data!?

The hype, hysteria, and "little old ladies over the back fence gossip from alleged insiders who know everything and every code number" you find on this board is ludicrous.
