Default ZR1 Engine Build March 1!

Very excited. i just scheduled my Engine Build for Thursday March 1, 2018. I am told the car will then be built within 2 weeks after that so i should be getting it by April 1 from the dealer. A once in a lifetime opportunity. And, by the way, buying a Zr1 gets you 2 days at Ron Fellows Driving school in a Zr1 for $0!!!! Awesome.

For the engine build, are you able to bring someone with you?

They have a photographer take pics throughout the day and provide a SD card with all the photos.

Very exciting news, though you might be a little optimistic as to when you actually see your car. The QC hold (quality control), with the intitial ZR1 production being such a small batch, will most likely be extended, maybe even into the three-four week time period (I have heard that it could well be that long). However, perhaps your dealer is close to the Plant and you could make up some of that time delay with really short shipping times to get to you.

Hope so for your sake!

No rush. Living in the northeast I can wait until late April no problem.

Congrats! It is a wonderful experience, I did it with my '12 ZR1 in Wixom. I also have my '19 ZR1 ordered with the PBC option, so looking forward to mine too.

I'm curious how confident we are that it's going in the car 2 weeks later. Is it possible that the motor will be built that early but it might be a while until the chassis gets a TPW?

Just what GM told me. I’m fine with it all considering I thought I might have to wait til the end of the he summer to get the car so I’m thrilled.

It could sit, but the last thing they want is a built engine cluttering up the floor of the very busy factory floor. Generally speaking, they try to schedule the PBCs right around when they're confident it can be plopped into a chassis soon after.

The timing sequence has surely changed since the PBC went to BG. I finished my '12 ZR1 engine in Wixom 2 months before I watched the car get built and took NCM delivery.

Update. GM delayed my build due to the delay in manual transmission. i heard it was about the gas guzzler tax. i just received a revised order from my dealer adding a $2100 gas guzzler tax to the order. my engine build is now April 5th.
