I am amazed by how little press GM got over the fact that this engine is 'Port and Direct Injected'. That is huge and I think would serve to address concerns about valve coking from Direct Injection only.

It does address the valve deposits but I think GM views it as more of a performance improvement over the LT4 than anything else.

I don't disagree with them. DI systems are good enough now to where the deposits aren't really that much of a concern. Not like the early DI Audi and BMW motors.
