What do you think the Cups are? I was here having that argument. IE The Nissan GTR's AWD and large tread blocks vs the ZR1's PS2 rain tires.
I'm guessing DR's and track tires wouldn't be nearly as helpful to the 720s.
It's chassis and power profile are well calibrated to those tires.

I own a Mclaren and I’ve tried a couple different sets of tires on my car, and I’m now settling on R888R’s but I won’t ever be able to claim any quick times post tires installed because that’s not the factory tires.

It will actually run 9s on the regular P zero's also which is a crap tire for traction(I have them on my Huracan), lasts a lot longer though than the Corsa's though. You can get it with either one it seems like they are produced half and half. Also the 720s starts at just about $290k after adding shipping and GGT, still a lot more than $120k but most are in the low/mid 300s though there are 400k cars out there but there are a lot more in the lower 300s. The 9.73 @146 run was at Atco(private rental I think) they used 100 octane gas mixed in and also had tire warmers on Corsa's. Still a stock car but they did prep about as good as you can with one of the fastest tracks. However with either factory tire it's still a 9.9 car on any given run. But the 720s has also ran a few 10.00 and 10.1 too.

Btw... none of the 720’s in my neck of the woods are remotely close to $300k. Most are well into the $400k range with one exception being a nicely equipped pre-owned unit at my local dealer that was offered around $380k.

BoP constraints and budgeting defines the McLaren's specification as being in its finished racing state.
Therefore the ground work is done! Thank You (and a GT3 road track guy/rennalist was a Big Help too)!
May the fair (non moving of the bar) 'Stock' Warrantied Corvette definitioned competition commence!
And don't forget standard pump gas in the McLaren is fair ball. Otherwise, you can race alone conceptualizing that $300K Vette's work on You!

Scraping the splitter.
You have a serious problem with reality.

I definitely see the argument. I think the line is crossed when one installs drag radials, because Production cars do not get DRs (except the Demon). Now if one installs max performance tires such as MPSC2/Trofero R I’ll say it’s fair game. Tires are consumables that have to be replaced over time.

Safety Car
I think 9's are there in the right conditions for a "STOCK" ZR1. I could do 1.53 60' times on the OEM wheels & standard MPSS tires in my 15 A8 Z06 & I 'know' the factory Cup tires were capable of a lower 60' as long as the car does not wheel hop.
PS: My car was never 'stock' due to front splitter removal for driveway entrance clearance the second day that I owned the car.

I know you're not talking about yourself, Glenn. Because the closest you've ever gotten to a track is reading about one on the internet and watching Randy's MT videos.
As they say in Texas, you're all hat and no cattle. But in your case, your hat is a dirty, tattered "Corvette Racing" cap with a torn bill.
