Default C&D ZR1 article scanned, attached.

Most surprising thing is the curb weight...that's quite a bit more than GM claimed early in the ZR1 reveal.

3671 lbs is not bad. For a car with 2100 coolers, luxury items, 140k, and 755 hp it’s doable. Any lighter and you lose items 2 or 3.

I love the list of cars that are "competitors".

The ZR1 is in some pretty rare air!

Car is heavy meaning it’ll go through tires and brakes fast. Those looking to go fast at a track will need to either open up the wallet or goto slick with AP brakes.

Are those performerance numbers all bases on 101 octane? I skimmed the article but couldn’t get clarity either way.

Only the Dyno and Standing Mile were based on 101 octane, all performance 'measurement' testing was based on standard 93 pump gas.

Dave

Lol Automatic ZR1s will be pretty heavy. Sean have you weighed your A8 Z when you had it?

Interesting tidbit about part of the underwing being blocked off if you don't opt for the ZTK package. It does look like the front changes are more than the taller splitter side fences.

So it's the heaviest and slowest among the cars its being compared against?

3670 lbs is incredible. My GT350 is 3720 lbs with 1/4 tank of gas, fully stock. And thats a big a$$ mustang.

And it'll still kick the living daylights out of the GT350 on any track and to any speed. So yeah, pretty incredible.

snorman,

no need to get all defensive. I am due to take delivery of my ZR1 this fall and I have no personal agenda to attack you or the car.

All I was saying was its an incredibly heavy car, very disappointing if you ask me because I would rather take a 3100 lbs car that has 600hp over 3800 lbs car that has 900 hp.

the fact that the flagship corvette weighs just as much as my 177 inches long big *** mustang is hard to swallow. Sorry but it is.

I’m sure you must have taken some form of Physics in some class in your life. F=ma is what I would say. You just cant cheat the law of physics by adding more power. Car will go fast in a straight line but it wont be fun, it wont be nimble. Or not as good as a lighter car.

plain and simple, this car is just too heavy.

also plain and simple, it is not hyper car competitor as some exaggarate. It does not “destroy” cars 4-5 times of its price. Mclaren 720s is 2x the price and that car traps 8mph more and it does it in 9.8s.

yes zr1 is a great car but i m not buying into the kool aid and i dont think it is as good as it is being exaggarated here. It doesnt beat 720s. It doesnt beat 918 or gt2rs. Heck we dont even know if it can keep up with gt3rs that has 70% of its power.

Yeah, I weighed it on the Daytona scales during a track weekend.
It was a few years ago and I recall that this was with some stuff in the car (helmet, bag, etc.), so about 3570# and it was a 3LZ A8 car.

Just out of curiosity, why are you buying a ZR-1? Apparently, it doesn't suit your preference for a lightweight car.
