100 octane questions
couple of questions regarding this 100 octane recommendation from the manual:
- Does the car make the advertised 755hp with 100 octane or without? If without, what are the hp numbers for 100 octane, does anyone know?
- When GM took the record lap in VIR, did they use 100 octane?
I m beginning to think to run this car at 100%, you will always need 100 octane? Not sure if its a noticeable difference

It depends on the rating system. 93 = 100

so you are saying the manual says we should use 93 octane? But i have been doing that already for the last 15 years on every performance car I owned. Who in their right mind would use 91 octane to save 20 cents? Except the poor people in CA or other states where 93 is not available

In California, Sunoco sells 100 octane fuel. It can only go in a track car, and not even a street car being driven for the day on the track. Each time you fill up your tank, you need to fill out a form swearing that the fuel will only go in a non-street car. And oh yeah, you pay $10 per gallon for the privilege. Glad I moved to Texas....

So does the computer on the ZR1 read or sense 100 octane to be able to boost power. I ask because on other vettes I boosted the tuner tuned for 93 and said any more octane will not add more power, it will only make car run safer. Another words no power benefit to higher octane just more safety.

The ZR1 will make more power on 100 octane. My 1991 ZR1 had a graph that clearly showed the power difference between 91 and 93 octane. If I recall it was like 25hp.
