Slaughtered... ..again. Here comes the onslaught of the 'well, for the money' and 'with a few mods' and 'but drag and aero' and 'it's not a drag car' arguments. Puhlease...

Here's the issue --- GM produces an engine that generates 755HP for hype and headlines, but is too shortsighted to upgrade the rest of the driveline accordingly. Their solution? Neuter all of that power with aggressive TQ management to aid in traction in the lower gears, and in warranty claims. Couple that with an un-flashable ECU and you've got a solid recipe for mediocrity and utter disappointment.

OMGG that lambo exhaust note is literally perfect! I am jealous of his garage. Kind of sad to see the ZR1 not doing as well as we all hoped. I am sure the heat was hurting the ZR1 for sure. My car is a bit slower and lower boost with high temps.

it didn't help either that the ZR1 owner attempted launch control. He should've just eased into it..

agreed as I hate to admit it, the ZR1's performance just doesn't justify its price point.

I agree with you guys. Buy a Z, drop a grand or two in mods, and go race a ZR1 and be neck and neck. Honestly in my eyes a Z06 looks better then the ZR1, price aside I would prefer the look of the z06 every time. That being said, I haven't seen one in person yet so maybe that would change. 3700 lbs someone said their ZR1 weighed. OUCH!

I love the looks of the ZR1 but at this point with all these head to head videos coming out its not that much of a gain vs just getting a Z06 unless you track it I guess.

I would have to go with driver skill level. It appears on this forum, a ZR1 fast list is posted. Stock ZR1 running 10.33 and 10.75.
Most of these head to head videos, these people are in the mid 11's. Granted the ZR1 is not built for just drag racing, but a 3 Dimensional performance car, that does everything well. But again, I would strike this up to driver error or not evenly matched skill.

I own a Huracan and an Aventador and a ZR1 and a Z06 and several others...they're all great cars.
But instead of head to head with two different people, why not the same person driving both cars.

Think that's more realistic

Z06 vs Huracan. Manual Z06 pulls harder. The only excuse I can think of for the ZR1 is that they had done a lot of runs before filming because he was offering the heat excuse before the pulls. I can understand getting roasted from a dig by an awd car but not being even from a roll with 145 more hp. I know drag and all but the ZR1 should pull early on when aero isn't as big of a factor.

These threads are hilarious.

Every time one of these 'comparos' comes out, the wailing & gnashing of teeth goes on for weeks.

First over the 720S, then the GT2 RS, now the Huracan.

Most if not all of this noise comes from folks that don't even have skin in the ZR1 game.

Even if the ZR1 destroyed these cars, the meme would be along the lines of, 'well, the ZR1 should have pulled a lot harder...'

The 720S is well north of $300k. You can't even buy a GT2, let alone at it's MSRP of $300k+., and the Huracan starts at $205k.

That a $123k ZR1 can roll head to head with these cars is astounding.

On a roadcourse, it will take more than 'a few thousand dollars' in upgrades to make a Z06 as capable as a ZR1. That has already been demonstrated repeatedly by the forum's track rats via detailed PDR analysis in the Pi Toolbox..

When you can find a car that can do the same as the ZR in the same price range get back to me. Or when you own one and actually know how to drive one. Another useless ZR bashing thread. Carry on.

Wow, 602 hp, naturally aspirated, 3600 lbs weighing pig of a huracan just destroyed the zr1? What excuse do you guys have now? In the first race, zr1 even jumped first. In the roll race, you have an extra 150 hp, and clearly it didnt do anything.

Since zr1 is a supercar killer bargain of america, maybe its time you guys have a thread with the list of super cars that zr1 actually does indeed kill. I have yet to see a comparison where zr1 didnt disappoint. Huracan is a $200k poor man’s lambo btw, most people do not even consider it as a super car.

I’m pretty sure GT3RS with only 500 hp will go head to head with this as well.

Absymal transmission and too much weight are both what kills zr1. Its just a poor platform overall, z06 was the pig and zr1 is the pig with makeup on.

I've been a staunch defender of the ZR1, but we are in the midst of a golden age in performance and accolades are earned. I came here to find out more about the car after seeing the Road Atlanta and VIR vids. I expect to see that same representation everywhere. Remember when the C6Z came out and it was knocking cars off everywhere? Times are much tougher now, but on the track, this thing should eat lunches.

It should also pull a Huracan more than a Z06. Based on hierarchy. And the way it pulled like a freight train on those track videos. 10 mph on a straights is a whole different league.

All I'm sayin.

Motor Trends Worlds greatest drag race will be coming out shortly btw prepare to be disappointed once again. Driver mod upgraded, then what? 😂 I have had a ZR1 on order btw but 2018 is proving to have some stout competitors and I may be canceling soon. The car is as stated above, too heavy with a subpar transmission.

Oh and let me say this. The Corvette name looms large. There is a certain expectation of elite performance attached to being called a Corvette. The widespread heat related issues with the C7Z was a big letdown from GM. So far the C7 platform hasn't exactly carried the torch from where the C6 left it. The ZR1 has a chance to redeem all of that. IMO

I'm hoping it does.
